Steelman, I only pointed out pitchers because those are the big names, but Hofstra has relied on Long Island kids staying "home" not just at the pitching position.

It is a shame that a team like Towson isn't scheduling a single P5 team. Very weak move. I don't know why anyone would want to play there if they continue to schedule this way. Even if you can't beat a team like Alabama, I'm willing to bet that the kids who were on the 2017 team remember playing them in a 2-4 loss competitively more than any other game in their careers.

Agreed 100%. And I would imagine Towson is hoping to be a top half team again this year, you'd think they'd want a tougher OOC schedule to help them win some close conference games. Maybe not

I defintely remember it well! my Kid went Yard against Bama and Towson held a lead into to 5th.... it was nice to see them compete. in 2015 they played Georgia as welll and that was another game Brook & I talk about... All of these games were at Hosted Tournaments, not that they were OOC Scheduled by themselves... as a West Coast parent we always hoped they would come to Mary Nutter or the Kajikawa Classic... but didnt happen, 1 rain soaked week in 4 years at St Mary's in Norther, CA.

But we still had a great experience at Towson and others are as well! they won't struggle to get good kids to play there. are they going to get Flo topp 100's? Not likely, but they will get solid kids who may surprise.

Lurker other than Galati the best pitchers wwe had were Kayleigh Lotti and Adriene Clarke. Both were Before Olivia and had impressive resumes. Lotti over 900 career Ks and Adriene Clarke I believe still has the record for most consecutive scoreless innings in the NCAA tournament for Hofstra. What Hofstra has relied on is players from the northeast and others that have been overlooked by the P5 schools. AS Bill Edwards says "he recruits orphans".

Towson, doesn't even travel to good places. The goal there is to pile up wins and keep the job. As I understand it Towson is a fine school in a great location. There is no reason other than not being interested in doing the requisite work in recruiting, that they shouldn't be able to get top players and compete with Hofstra and JMU. They had their really once in a blue moon top hitting team the last two or three years and that team is now gone. Back to mediocrity.
