Hofstra beat St John’s 3-0 in New Jersey yesterday, and I’m still trying to find details on the Stony Brook game.

Is JMU playing a Fall schedule? If so, how is it going?

Hofstra shut out Stony Brook in the second game.  Cornell had a one hit, no walk performance versus St. John's and Irons also had a no walk game against Stony Brook.

Thanks for the update! Glad to see both pitchers with strong performances, and it's always a good thing to beat the local rivals, even in games that don't technically count.

The no walk part from Irons is the best news....Free passes were a weak spot for her last season.

If she was cleaned that part of her game up, I think she will have a very solid sophomore campaign.

Does anyone know if they are letting Cornell swing the bat a little more this season?  When I watched her in HS, I felt her power at the plate would be a great asset for us.

I was told that they "won both rather easily.  Looked good and pitching was good".  I didn't get the scores.

Hofstra has had eligibility questions about the International players on the volleyball team in the past.
Could be trouble there.

AD's don't get fired for that. Compliance people do.

As an alum and HU sports fanatic, I tend to think that the change at the top has more to do with the under performance of certain teams.

Softball, wrestling, women's soccer, Men's Lax...All were perennial conference champions/national tournament participants during the years of his predecessor.

Now, if I am being honest, I think he is a bit of a "fall" guy....It is no secret that President R. has never seemed to be a "sports guy"....He has always wanted to make us into a Baby Ivy and to a certain degree, is making progress toward that goal....However, for whatever reason, athletic success has waned a bit in recent times.

There was a time when HU used to King/Queen makers...It was a place where young coaches went, cut their teeth, and the moved on...Jay Wright, Tom Ryan, John Danowski, Felicia Legette-Jack, etc all parlayed their time at HU into major conference jobs with Wright, Ryan, and Danowski, eventually winning national titles.....That seems to be gone now and instead of doing national searches or seeking out hot assistants, we are opting to take whomever we can get at an affordable price tag.

agreed pres Rabinowitz is a bottom line guy  Save a buck and it goes to other projects that are more important to him. The Pride club which raise money strictly for athletics now goes into a general fund called "university Development". It seems that rabinowitz has burned thru 3 ADs in less than 15 years. Times before under pres Shuart the Ads  lasted at least 15 years.
BTW heard a rumor that Megan Godd might transfer to Auburn but has to wait till 12/22 to do so.  Any truth to this rumor

Well, if she had San Diego State's coach, she would be cooling her heels till 2019

Was just waiting for that one to start. Be curious to know where that rumor started...

For argument sake let's suppose it's true. Couple questions:

She's already started her final & senior year @ JMU. And played a Fall schedule.
How would she even be eligible for the Spring?
Why would the AD grant her release?
At very least, wouldn't she have to sit the 2018 Season to be eligible for her 5th year?

She's not injured and probably doesn't have any personal/family issues which would constitute some kind of hardship the NCAA would look favorably on.

Last I knew, the NCAA doesn’t require a waiver for softball, a player can transfer and play immediately. It’s the coach’s decision for softball. It would be dumb for her to leave JMU, but if she was going to, it would make sense to do it mid-year since Dean left after the fall semester started.

Softball is important, but I would imagine she is ready to graduate. What will she get out of transferring schools and derailing an academic pursuit to play for a team that's good but not going to win a national championship with or without her? If she were in her sophomore year, probably. Not now.

If that were true I think we'd see more kids transferring during Winter Break. No way it can be that easy.

Think about it, with all the kids on these jacked up rosters either leaving or told by a staff they have no chance of playing in the Spring, I've never once heard a story about some player leaving a program mid year and then ending up on another roster for the Spring. My bet is the kids who can't "arrange a redshirt year", end up transferring, sitting then playing the following year.

Would like to hear the proper ruling on this one.
