"TEXIT". Love it. That needs its own thread.  http://www.thetnm.org/

I'm thinking of moving over there. Seems pretty similar to my environs here in So Cal.

We are considering entrance visas, and there will be some pretty heavy vetting ongoing.

Seems prudent. My Cali DL probably a deal breaker all by itself. Suppose I could just come up from Mexico, at least until Trump's wall puts the kabosh on that.

Scotland voted "Remain" approximately 62%.  Now Scotland says it's considering another independence referendum.

Scotland has been getting lands, titles, and scraps from the table so long, they don't know how to act as free men. The common man is living on the Socialists slave plantation that American Democrat Elites dream of. Want a Utopian paradise where you earn a meager living, but your housing, healthcare, and food are subsidized by the more equal animals? Then this is your place. No wonder Scotland wanted to stay in the EU. They want their check in the mail. Time to grow a pair and stand on your own two feet as free men.

Looks like the average UK voter is generally as low-info as their american counterpart. Makes me feel conflicted. Gotta love a secession voter who waits until after the vote to figure out what the issues are.

The Google searchers were not necessarily voters. At least they got a vote. We should have been able to vote on POS obamacare

If Texas did a Texit and all of the midwest states above Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, etc... followed suit, we could give the libtards everything east and west coast. We would have the United Conservative States up the middle and the United Lib States on both sides. Two separate countries.

In a matter of 2 years the Libtards would be starving to death and begging for the "conservative states" to feed them, defend them, and provide energy for them. The Libs would be giving free health care, free college, free food, free housing, free, free, free!!!! They would open their boarders to everyone who wants to come in for free stuff!! It would be like a carnival for about 6 months until they figured out that they are out of money. The libs would be trying to survive with no electricity because there simply isn't enough wind power to provide all of their needs and they shut down ALL of their oil drilling, coal plants, and nuclear energy to protect their environment. The highways in LA would be lined with 10 speed bicycles instead of cars because they don't wan to pollute the air. Guns would be outlawed so nobody would be able to defend themselves. They would have no police forces because cops are racist and act stupidly.
In a matter of 2 years a person armed with a BB Gun and a 12 volt battery could take over the entire Lib States!

The Conservative States would be prosperous with businesses flourishing, producing energy, growing crops, and have a mighty military.

Purty much how it would go. You did leave out the part where the less equal Socialists rebel against the more equal animals and drag them through the desolate ruins they inhabit. Heck, half of them would freeze, and the other half would migrate to the Conservative States to set up a new Utopia.

Obama was pushing for the UK to stay in the EU.

Did he even try to put himself in the shoes of a person over there to understand why someone might want to vote "Leave"?

Obama is an internationalist that believes countries should abdicate their sovereignty to a supranational government run by elites like himself.

Some anecdotal stories from the coverage.

- Former British government official said half of their legislation was passed to comply with edicts coming from Brussels.

- Woman had to wait 10 months to receive a shot for pain relief.

Now it's being reported that some in Northern Ireland want to have an independence referendum to break away from the UK and rejoin Ireland (and EU).

They need that check in the mail. With the exit of the UK, there will be a lot less of other peoples money to hand out. Which nation will be the next to exit the EU?

It was much worse in 2012.

In 2008 it was "OK, we'll see how this obama thing works out".  Well, it didn't work out well at all and by 2012 we knew he was a loser

I have a daughter in Manchester. This situation sucks. Gibralter will be contersted again and scotland and others have the edge needed to get the vote to break free (since only reason they remained was because of eu).
Obama nor trump nor hillary had any effect on the decision nor did this reflect anything for upcoming election.
The world does not revolve around american politics and social media. While in japan they cared more about baseball andsosftball scores and standings than american politics.....which is fair since we care more about sports in america than japanese politics and political party squabbling.

Chaos is the word for the week in uk
At least it will take 2 years to go into effect but in meantime chaos and infighting will dominate

It's not a done deal yet. The referendum was non-binding and Parliament has to pass laws to make it happen.

It's questionable the 'Leave' people will deliver on their promise of keeping all the benefits of membership (e.g. staying in the market). Ideally, they would try to negotiate the terms of exiting before committing themselves to leaving, however that's contrary to the EU's laws and understandably so.

Is there an over / under on how many stories DC will link today on how the markets across Europe are rebounding? [rofl]

But seriously, was everyone totally freaked out and terrified by the end of the world fear-mongering scenarios propagated by the MSM?

DJ, I think the UK were the smart ones. Tired of funding the moochers and they made the exit. Same thing Texas will do in the next 30 years.

Not sure if this will show up but here is a chart of the Dow Jones from June 23 to today.  As you can see, the Dow has recovered all of its losses.  All of the panic was nothing more than emotion.  Ridiculous.

If MPs vote to deny Brexit, don't they run the risk (from their point of view) of losing seats in Parliament to UKIP?

Each MP should represent their constituency and know how they voted. The next scheduled election isn't until 2020.

It looks like the next PM may be Theresa May.  Some have called her the second Margaret Thacher.
