Any chance the Big Ten gets on the road to recovery with new blood in the coaching ranks this year? .. or will it continue its slide into irrelevance?  I'm not sure I see an influx of talent that would help.

I would expect Michigan to stay on top, they have a solid class coming in

Ohio State has some talented kids in this incoming class but don't know much about what they lost and return

Ohio State gets transfer Lauren Rice via Missouri. I'd think she'll fair a bit better in the Big 10 than the SEC. That said, she's a power pitcher who only had 86Ks in 146IP. More hits than IP and, gave up too many long balls...15. Her ERA of 3.25 will certainly come down in the Big 10 to.

Also, current NFCA 2nd Team All American Lilli Piper returns for her Senior season. After she blindsided Florida's Kayli Kvistad in the NCAA matchup, Piper is my pick for reigning Thug of the Big Ten. Looking forward to her continuing her petulant, poor sport antics into 2019. A career in the Octagon awaits her upon graduation.

She's a good hitter. Teams should start throwing her up & in more. Couple balls early to the inner rib cage should humble her little bit.

In the Big Ten, this may be damning with faint praise, but Indiana, after starting 6-21 in Shonda Stanton's first year, finished 20-9 including a 17-6 conference record.

I believe the spectacular turnaround had more to do with playing really weak non-conference opponents and feasting on the mediocrity of the Big Ten than any program improvement. I don't hear of any upgrades in their recruiting ability lately either.

And they have picked up some of Stanton's  2017 Marshall recruits who have transferred out.

Steele goes AWOL after 1 year. Leaving a once very nice program under Stanton in the hands of an interim Head Coach who's only coaching experience includes Travel Ball.

Michigan will "stay" on top only if the goofy schedule continues to favor them.  last year they had no conference games against Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois or Northwestern.

Minnesota has been the class of this conference ever since Romero graduated.  I expect more of the same next season.

I don’t know why but I’m feeling like northwestern is going to do some damage over the next few years. They brought in some pretty big names and (I know you can’t always look at rankings) but some pretty high ranked kids according to flo softball.

They are a team that is underrated in my opinion. They were fun to watch.

Keep watch out for Skyler Shellmeyer, MI/U. Currently playing for Bill Conroy's 18U team.

Legit speed & very good athlete. Should contribute as a Freshman.

How will Ohio State look next year?  Their win total has slowly gone up under Kovach Schoenly from 30 - 34 - 35 - 36 over the last 4 years.  They seem to be flirting with the top 25 lately.  Its a great athletic department and they have nice facilities so what do they need to do to make the next step?  Seems like they are close to being a consistent top 25 program.

My understanding is that for the 4th straight season, the Goohers and Michigan will NOT play each other.

BTW....I believe the 'Hutch Conspiracy crap' had to do with neither Minnesota nor Michigan playing a conference game against a team coached by a man -- ever

Pretty sure Michigan played Rutger or Maryland when the Sierra's were there. One of those teams had a male HC. just can't remember which one.

IMO they will be probably 2nd or 3rd in the conference. They picked up Lauren Rice who was originally at Mizzou, mediocre pitcher, did better in 2nd half of season, 70+ mph. Seems like a better fit being in Big 10 than the SEC. They return Lilli Piper as well.

Yes, Rutgers entered the league with a pre-existing male coach. LOL

I think Illinois is going to defer as they are in the middle of some facility upgrades. So maybe Indiana...
