There's actually a lot more to it than just a back injury. I'll let Kelsee explain it for herself in this blog she wrote. Worth the read.

I assume its a good thing people don't like Oklahoma. Means your beating people. If you're not beating people nobody cares. I can tell the Baylor girls don't like OU. They've been the runner up to OU the last few years so that kind of make a natural rivalry. If OU jets the Big 12 in 2025 like a lot of people think I guess this argument will be null and void. They'll be in the SEC, Big 10 or Pac 12.

Actually it wasn't elimination. Just a loss.

Nice get! There is more than one team, after all. I did not know that

The other choice was UCLA. Even though it could have been a trick question as the Big 12 tournament was in Oklahoma City, then they ended and it came back this year. I actually kind of had you pegged for an LSU fan though. I would have guessed that first without the hints.

Since we're into questions and this is a Big 12 forum. Here is a tricky one, now don't cheat. Who is the last Big 12 team to win a 3 game series against OU? I've actually heard it mentioned during some games so some of you may know.

I'm going with former B12 member Missouri, in the Chelsea Thomas era.

I thought it was merely biased selective reading in saying I hate Oklahoma, but maybe you are hitting on something, Janie.

On this thread alone:

Oklahoma, an up-and-down team with a mediocre schedule, was 10 in 2017

RPI does just fine (I would have had Oklahoma as an 8 seed this year, but 10 is in the ballpark)

The coach couldn't win any of the natties without her putting her team in position to do so.

Got a little fortunate this year, but, you can't get lucky unless you are in position for some luck to actually help you out.

Only props to her.

I actually don't know much about Duck fans, but I do remember you don't want to play them a football game at their place

LOL... I've heard a lot about that game. At least that wasn't in a national semifinal.

Can't let it go, can you? We all know that one event is in no way analogous to the other.

True, not analagous at all.

One was a regular-season game, the other was in the final four.

There has been one worse fair-foul call from an ump 8 feet away during a postseason:

Your analogy is, of course, without merit.  OU's certain win in the 2006 football game at Oregon was snatched away by an officiating/replay crew that completely botched the calls on Oregon's onside kick with 1:12 left in the game. First, the kick did not go the required 10 yards before being touched (first) by an Oregon player. Then, the kick was recovered by an Oklahoma player.  The replay booth had an easy call to overturn the ruling made by the on-field crew, but they opted to ignore the facts and awarded the ball to the Ducks.

In this year's WCWS, no evidence exists that the outcome of the OU-Oregon game would be changed, even if replay was allowed and the umpire's call on the play you so vehemently protest was overturned.

I didn't make an analogy. I said that, indeed, they were not analagous at all.

You did, indeed. And the above is the distinction you made between the two. Disingenuous, as usual.

It is hard to understand how the ump missed this fair/foul call... as he was right where he needed to be - and was looking right where he needed to be looking. He only had ONE job to do on that play - and he screwed it up royally.

The ump in the Oregon game had a lot more going on.
His attention was not focused solely on "is this going to be a fair or foul ball".
And... the fair/foul call was much more clearly fair on the video you posted...
then it was clearly foul in the Oregon game.
The Oregon game call was a much tougher call, imv.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Btw... I'd bet there have probably been quite a few fair/foul calls that were worse than the Oregon call over the years.
How about that one during the team USA game when the batted ball HIT THIRD BASE... and was called foul!
How the bleep do ya mess that one up..??!!

WCWS ump had NOTHING else to adjudicate. No runner coming home....nothing.

And ball, while not two feet fair, was inarguably foul.

In the USA game... a de facto exhibition by comparison, they ruled that it hit the runner foul before it touched the bag

Awful call. But not a stationary ball 8 feet away from the umpire

Yes, I made that distinction between the two. Nowhere close to analogy.
