Well 1 of 4 is, but the point of my post wasn't about you or your post.   I just used your post and the correction thereof to address others.

So, there's no NCAA rule that if you get arrested you're off the team for remainder of season...or at least longer than a handful of days! 🙄

Auburn has only 1 quality pitcher. Martin hasn't proven herself against quality teams and the freshmen have really yet the be tested. Nor has their offense proven against the arms like Florida's, better seasoned Oklahoma and Arizona ( who I dint think played each other) they won't go far in the post season.

Back with their team just in time for Fagan to participate in Senior Day activities.

I have lost all respect for Clint Myers.  Their return is simply a case of him valuing winning more than he does discipline and integrity.

Have not spent much time around Clint other than a handshake, but Corey has put him in a bad spot where he is trying to be a good head coach without throwing his scumbag son under the bus.  Nepotism never ends well.

Auburn has had several football players suspended for marijuana charges in the past and they were only suspended a game or two.  For softball to levy a much stiffer penalty would open the AD up to potential legal problems.

I will preface my comments by saying:

1)  I do not like Clint Myers, his son, and their "family values"
2)  I do not like Auburn softball.
3)  I do not like Haley Fagan or any Fagan and believe that they are all black eyes on the sport.
4)  Possessing marijuana is against the law and those who break the law should be punished.

All that having been said, the 3 game suspension for this violation is not unreasonable.  It is a misdemeanor, they didn't commit a crime against another person, and marijuana violations in other sports don't carry a "kick them off the face of the earth" type of penalty, nor should it.

I am open to discussing any other flaws with this group of people, but the 3 game suspension for this seems about right.

And it might be a 4 game suspension.  Auburn is scheduled to play today, right?

Actually, just the opposite.  Auburn operates the policy on a point system.  Marijuana and synthetic marijuana constitute a 1 point infraction (for 1st offense, and this was for all 3) that doesn't involve AD directed loss of playing time.   It does invovle a 1 year probation and a 2nd point (or more if other drugs, which starts at 3) would involve AD directed suspensions starting at 25% of the season schedule and up (50% for 3 points, 100% for 4 points and 5 points gets your playing privileges permanently removed.   The probationary period is reviewed by a group of administrators.

The HC of any sport and can add punishment like Coach Myers has so far by making sure the 3 didn't play last weekend and we'll see what happens going forward.   But it's not a "legal issue".
So for example, if someone tested positive for MJ and Adderall, they would miss an entire season.  Also, each student athlete can have a point deducted after 24 months of no criminal arrests and testing negative over that period...and it's likely that the two non-seniors will have more than two tests per year going forward.

The football players you've refernenced (incorrectly as usual), were suspended by the coach at his own discretion or missed 3 or 6 games to due multiple transgressions.  Trust me, I'm aware.

Jay Jacobs, what are you doing on a softball message board and don't you have better things to do with your time?  You need to start looking for Clint's replacement in case he decides to hang it up after this season.

I would guess that most teams have team rules which are usually laid out in some sort of player handbook. I personally know of several teams that have a written rule that if a player is caught doing drugs of any kind they will be immediately dismissed from the team. I have no problem with that, as long as the athletes know that up front. You break the rule, you're gone.

gtwstock - since you obviously have insider info from the Auburn Athletic department, can you explain the State of Alabama nepotism laws and how Clint Myers circumvented them?  Any insider information you can provide on the Corey Myers dismissal would also be appreciated so I do not disseminate any misinformation in the future.

I'll give you this simple advice.  When you don't know anything about a topic, don't type.    And I am not Jay Jacobs....although I certainly know him. We were teammates.   Why would I put any "insider" information on this board?   What Corey did was wrong.  What Fagan, Martin and Maresette did was wrong.  And from what I can tell, they've been dealt with appropriately.  I've already posted that I didn't care for what Clint said about "taking Corey back in a heartbeat".   We'll see what happens.

Maybe if people like you, who have insider information, would post the FACTS on the message boards, it would eliminate the need for those of us without insider information to speculate and try to piece together the facts. But you prefer to be a condosending ass to those of us who have not shared a shower with Jay Jacobs...

Umm ... are you familiar with our stellar new US Attorney General Jeff Sessions? Well, he's from Alabama. So that should be a good indication to you that we are selective here in Alabama about the laws we enforce, and we certainly don't enforce nepotism laws when doing so would prevent the hiring of the right coach.  We generally enforce the laws that suit us, such as:

-all crimes suspected to have been committed by black or brown people, unless they are football or basketball players at Alabama or Auburn. Then we only enforce it if they've done something to a white girl who is related to someone important.
-we do NOT allow the purchase of alcohol on the Lord's day by gawd
-a few more things ... you get the drift.

Oh, and if you believe the AUB football players are subjected to testing for marijuana by the institution and suspended based on that point system described below (snicker, chuckle, loud guffaw), I have some ocean front property in Montana I'd like to sell ya.

With all of the negatives going on, looking forward to this weekend and celebrating Coop. Only 2 RBIs away from breaking the all time SEC RBI record. I bet she gets it done!

Would be great for her to go ahead and get the record and give the team something to get excited about.  Great accomplishment!

I guess we'll get the lefty today vs. Swindle.  Should be an interesting matchup.  We still look like a pretty average SEC team to me even though we got the win last night.  Carlson settled in nicely.  Seitz is on fire now, easily could have had a 2nd dinger.   Swindle needs to pitch around her.  And we need to score some runs off of Silkwood (or whoever is pitching).
