2 of them anyway. Seems both were either homesick or boyfriendsick. 1 to NC State not sure where the other surfaced.

I wouldn't worry too much, the 2017 coming in is better than both of them right now. I'd expect you will see her get alot of innings next Spring.

So since there have been a couple of shifts in the Midwest...anyone heard if Iowa hired an assistant? Who Trachsel is hiring at MN? Pinkerton just got to ISU so I suspect that may take a few days.

No news at ISU yet.  Players haven’t heard from Pinkerton.  Sounds like he’s been wrapping things up in California and Missoula and we’ll know more next week.  I haven’t heard anything substantiated about MN except that Ritter is staying on as pitching coach.

Iowa website shows a Megan Blank as a volunteer assistant.  Not sure if that’s from last season or next.

Blank was a volunteer assistant last season. Not sure if she will stay on as a voly or not. Any word on where Jake Schumann ended up? I think he is from Minnesota. I wonder if Trachsel would be interested in that.

Never heard where Jake Schumann ended up, but yes I do think he is from Minnesota.  I imagine a lot shakes out now that PGF is wrapping up.  Iowa's been open for awhile, I would think if Blank was staying on as a full time they would have announced it.

Schumann left coaching to teach and coach high school football somewhere in Iowa.

Looks like a complete coaching staff overhaul at Pittsburgh. Cognigni left for HC job at Oakland and now only HC Coach listed on website

At Minnesota, the posting has been removed. Just waiting for the announcement.

I'd assume that Coach Pinkerton will interview Dordel for an assistant spot at Iowa State. Unless he has someone in mind for the other assistant position, I'd think that the job opening will be posted by Wednesday or so.

Dordel announced today she's not returning.  It sounds like he has someone in mind to take her place so I'd expect an announcement soon.

Really? That's kind of surprising. Do you know where I can read the announcement?

Agreed, surprising on Dordel. Seemed to do good work, wonder where she will end up.

Dordel is a quality person and coach.  I'm looking forward to where she lands.  She will be successful.

Brynne emailed the players that she's not returning.  Coach Pinkerton wanted someone he's more familiar with.  Didn't say who, but I'm guessing his assistant from Montana.

Brynne is an awesome young talented coach and I'm sure she'll land somewhere soon.

Kate Sinnott is the new pitching coach at ISU.  Odd choice over Dordel, but we'll see.

Sinnott was the Director of Operations at Iowa State when Pink was at Iowa State as an assistant. It's a surprising yet not surprising move on his part. He's worked with her before and knows her philosophies. We will just have to see if it pans out.

I just thought it was odd to not to have a track record of coaching at anything above the CC level and that was over 10 years ago.  Maybe she had a greater role with pitchers while Director of Operations than what appears on her bio.  Coach Pinkerton obviously believes in her so hopefully it turns out to be a great hire.

That would be a pretty big NCAA violation if she was working with pitchers while being a Director of Ops. If that's the case, I'm sure they wouldn't add that to her bio.

I meant working with team pitchers during practice and or games.  Maybe that's not allowed either, not sure.

You would be surprised:

JT Gasso spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma, where he was responsible for compiling scouting reports, game day and practice set up and assisting in hitting instruction and game planning for the team, including its 2013 national championship and 2012 national runner-up seasons.

I don't know much about grad assistants and their duties. I just know that managers and Ops people are not allowed to do coaching of any kind. I'm pretty sure Managers can throw bp, catch bullpens, hit ground balls and stuff, but no actual coaching. I don't think Ops can do anything liked that. Of course, that doesn't mean it isn't done.

A head scratching move IMO - bring in a pitching coach with no actual D1 coaching experience?  Can't wait to see how that works out.  ISU has a veteran group of pitchers so perhaps it will work out just fine.  I guess there are plenty of other assistants out there that got their first coaching job at a P5 program - notably when the parent is the HC - so maybe there is a relationship that helped with regard to this selection.

Will be interesting to see if she can produce a .300+ hitter. How long will Looper be around is the next question...

Jeff Cottrill is the new pitching coach at Oklahoma State.
First two years in Stillwater he was director of operations.

Yes it is. Maybe this is Kenny G's last ploy to nab the Cottrill kid, losing Morgan will hurt them some.
