Maybe wishing a better pic had been chosen for that article.

I was hoping someone here would know the answer to that... as well as Oregon State.

Anyone?

This is Tori Tyson. I'd like to apologize as my friends and family took the blog post very personal and a close friend took initiative and posted on my behalf. Although she did this in defense of me and the harsh criticism and speculation I have revisited, I explained to her this is not the platform nor is it necessary, as I don't intend to further engage in this exchange and hope that everyone can move on and be supportive.

Something I would like to share is this Go Fund me for a former player of mine and her daughters fight against leukemia! Please share this and get this message out! Thank you in advance!

God Bless,

If I were a HC, I would take a dim view of any of my assistants ranting and spewing on fan-forums, instead of ignoring them like they should....because eventually, everyone's going to find out.    I think TerpAlum's post on this is prescient.

God Bless,

If you think it's nuts with Julie Wright at Maryland go to UMBC. Kids are complaining about their head coach and they fire the pitching coach instead. Then the head coach and her friend, another fired assistant, place this restraining order on the assistant. Soap opera time in the University of Maryland system.

Parents filing a restraining order against a coach?

This filing was obviously posted by someone who knows Carla and is only hearing her side of the story, because nowhere on this case info sheet does it have the name of the person or persons who filed the peace order. Why are you so sure that it was filed by the head coach at UMBC and her friend?

Stop perpetuating rumors. Carla was not fired from UMBC, but she was not offered a contract renewal. The volunteer assistant also was not fired, but left the team because of illness. From what I remember, she actually missed at least 8 weeks of the season this year because she was so sick.

Let's take a look at Carla's track record, too. According to her bio, she attended 4 different schools during her playing career and has had 6 different jobs in what looks to be the last 7 years. That is incredibly telling.

As someone who has been following this team for years, I must say that I have truly never seen them look better than they did this year. I also had no idea that there was any drama going on, and there were no rumblings within the parents or fans at the games. Heather has done a great job with these young women and we are excited to see them continue to grow and succeed.

Not offered a contract renewal and fired are the same thing. I've not seen them play but below .500 is not the best they've been in years

Yes, 241, we DO need to look at BOTH sides very carefully.  Instead of what appears to be a "hey, look over here and see a resume but hear no facts that pertain to this situation", state some facts to prove your side.  If "Carla's side" has facts, they can share, too.  That way both sides have facts out there instead of smoke.  I know things, too, but it's not my place and I'm not being mysterious to have people ask.  These are not my monkeys, I just loathe all the finger pointing crap and sullying of character without any facts being present.  There's no need to respond to this, just lay down the facts - not Wikipedia-style - but legit, cold, hard fact, please.  TruDat, your statement matches your name.

Agreed. Both sides are critical. But through detective work, the complainant was the UMBC head coach. That in itself says there is a big issue down there

UMBC records:

2014   31-22
2015   22-27
2016   25-31

2017   22-30 Under Heather Gelbard

So I guess she does have them "looking better than they have in years". When you post stuff like that it helps to look up the facts. TRUDAT

Detective TruDat - Teach me your ways. I've searched everywhere and can't find anything. What website did you use to find that info? I'd really like to read the whole thing.

Ballmomlife, the detective work was not on a website. I spoke to someone who knows a parent of a girl on the team. It's a small world. For the record, Carla and Heather were friends before this all happened.

TerpAlum, here are the Stats for the last several years

                     2014      2015      2016      2017

B Average      .269        .289      .273       .280
Home Runs     47            29         31          30
Stolen B.         16           46         32          48
Fielding          .955         .963       .954      .962
ERA                3.25        3.83       4.2         3.89

I'd say based on the numbers you must have been watching a different team. Seems pretty similar to prior years.

There is more than the record--you look at speed on bases, fielding skill, hitting for power, fitness, athleticism, close scores, how they handle certain competition even in a loss, etc.

So I stand by my observation that they look the best they have in years.

They beat Florida, Michigan and Mizzou

They were by far more dangerous than in years past

TerpAlum, eye test? All the stats line up over the years +/- a little. 30 or more losses two years in a row. You got this eye for something else. Are you saying the players were happier? If so, why did their best hitter, a sophomore, quit midway through the year? (Peyou).

Well that was a quick stint for McDonald at Florida.  I wonder what happened?  The article only says she is head coach of an NPF team...nothing about why she actually left the Gators.  Any ideas?

Maybe she just prefers being a HC at the pro level.  It seems like the college coaches be it Asst or HC who try pulling off jobs at both levels during the year burn out.  Walton only coached the USSSA Pride for a couple of seasons.  Rocha did one season as the HC for the Dallas team last year.  Once McDonald was hired in Feb for the Chicago job, it was probably decided that was it for now on the college level.  Tough to do any summertime travel ball recruiting.
