It's official. http://arizonawildcats.com/news/2018/6/20/arizona-softball-signs-missouri-transfer-rylee-pierce.aspx

Where's she going to play? 1B, sometimes catcher? Maybe 3B?

I'm gonna guess the obvious. He valued 17's bat (.262, 179 PAs) last season more than he did 2's bat (.000, 2 PAs).

Any top-notch slappers coming in this fall at Arizona? It seems like Candrea hasn't recruited like he used too. Haven't seen that Caitlin Lowe, Autumn Champion slapper in quite some time. I miss Arizona's small ball where they always put pressure on the infield defense with their speed.

Hope Candrea can get some better luck in the circle. After Fowler suffered from her injury, the circle (and team) has suffered as well since.

Dunno about slappers. You know Coach Mike likes the long ball. But since Mowatt came, Iveson's job is recruiter. Funny, she and the Cats must have inside lines to Stith in SoCal, otherwise why wasn't her name on the early list (before new NCAA recruiting rule)?

Me too on the circle. You can't just keep getting lucky picking up O'Toole transfers. Need that fast small ball game to balance out power in the lineup and screw up the opponent's defense.

Looking forward to the new Hillenbrand Stadium. Will make a special trip down to Tuscon to check it out (and get some Spring Training MLB games in too).

Perhaps this good one can combine with McQuillin along with the other frosh Vanessa Foreman to carry the Wildcats to OKC in 2019.

Being that the Arizona archives on softball stats are not what they should be email Danny Martinez at the UofA to find out how many home runs Lowe-Nagy hit in her 4 years.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Caitlin Lowe hit 12 HR in her four years with Arizona.  She had 9 in her first two seasons - but hit only 3 more in her last two seasons.
She averaged 61.4 at bats per one HR during her college career... and one HR in 20 games.

In her 2008 season with team USA... she hit 7 HR in 239 at bats (34.1 at bats per HR), almost doubling her college percentage.

She went on to play 6 seasons in the NPF (2009-14) and did not hit any HR in her NPF career (654 at bats and zero HR).

The grand total from college through NPF is 19 HR in 1680 at bats (88.4 at bats per HR).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

During her four years with Arizona, she had 156 stolen bases while being caught just 9 times (a 95% success rate).
She stole 49 bases and was caught just once in 2007, her senior year (98%).
With team USA the following year, she had 17 SB with 2 CS (89%) in about the same amount of playing time.
And in six years with the NPF, she had a total of 47 SB. (do not have the CS data).
So it was a lot tougher to accumulate SB when the competition level went up after college.
She averaged 39 SB with just 2 CS per year at college.
She averaged just 9 SB in the 7 seasons after college.

Once upon a time there was a portside batting Wildcat centerfielder who hit 12 home runs in one season and she had wings on her feet.
No it wasn't Alison Johnsen McCutcheon.

Key phrase being "once upon a time". The laurels are all Az has to talk about anymore.

Btw, just what has Lowe taught the Az outfielders or the "slappers"?

Anyone?
