Three of the top 4 teams lost yesterday.  Auburn got pounded by Mizzou 6-1, Florida St lost 7-2, and we lost 6-3...thankfully!  Texas A&M  might move up a notch or two now too.

Enjoyable weekend at Hillenbrand Stadium even though it was really HOT. It's so great that the fans come out in the heat to cheer on the team and to watch records being broken. At least the ASU games this coming weekend will be starting later so maybe the evenings will cool down a little as the sun goes down. Expect there will be sold out games! Go Cats!

Glad ASwho is at home for the Cats!  Looks like the Devils can smack the ball a bit but I think our girls will be able to handle their pitching pretty nicely.  Sweep and stomp is desirable from here on out.

Az squeaks by Asu 4-3 for the first game of the series.  O'Toole did not look sharp at all, but got stronger as the game went on.  Jessie Harper 3-3 with 3 rbi's.  Macha pitched a great game, made Az look foolish at times with her own very good changeup...definitely a strong drop.

Four earned runs against ASU. Add an error, and it's enough for a rival to win. Or anybody in the top 50. Will ASU take the series? Devils have awesome momentum...

It baffles me that with 2 different look lefties on staff that Az cannot hit a lefty pitcher...ever!  And yep, Asu came to win.  I hope the girls find the missing ingredient that started with the last oregon game asap!

Would it be rude to point out that MN will move up to #3 in the coaches poll??

Midwest, I don't really care as much about the rankings as I do the rpi, and, as long as Az stays in the top 8 in both polls and rpi, I think we're good!

I want Minnie to do well just like you do...the big needs another team representing so that conference can become more competitive overall.

Yes, you will be just fine.  I was just teasing a bit

No doubt about it, though, there is a lot of dreadful ball being played in the BIG.

In all seriousness the Gophers really need AZ to win the series next weekend against UCLA.  We cant catch you even if you are swept, and if UCLA wins the series they probably pass us (in the selection committee rankings) like we are standing still.

Harper just belted her 2nd homer of the day...this one a grand slam to downtown left field...then Palomino follows with her own dinger.  8- zip over ASU bottom 4th.  Asu on their 3rd pitcher.  Mercado also hit her 10th homer a couple innings ago.

Mauga 22
Harper 18
Palomino 16
Mulipola 11
Mercado 10

Activity here slim since ZTE stopped posting about how great his daughter is. Time for this site to move to the top so I am going to add a few responses for everyone to consider and comment on.

UCLA did not pitch Garcia against Stanford last week.  Is she hurt or just wore down like every quality pitcher is as the regular season nears its end?  I think that gives UCLA a better chance against us.  UCLA is also better at hitting the change up, or they were in prior years, so I expect more runs against Tooley than usual.

I still believe Tooley is being overused and it will cost us post season, most likely in the supers.

Mike changed his line up, moving Mauga and Mercado up, with Harper in clean up.  I think this is the right line up for the rest of this year.  Anyone think the line up should be different.

Still strongly concerned about the number two pitching position.  You can go out and play bully against lesser teams that don't know you and scout you but it is a world of difference when playing against PAC-12 competition.  They have scouted you since club ball, so the book on you is thick before you pitch your first pitch in college.  The players saw you many times in club ball and know well what you are throwing.  Can she do her job, or as the ESPN announcer said, she has to do her job better.  Can we make this less of a big issue?

Are the freshman finally fulfilling their roles?  With all the runs batted in I think they are getting more comfortable.  Harper will get tested this weekend.  I bet she will be up to the task ahead.

So we are tied with Utah in losses.  I was told in this case the tie breaker is overall winning percentage.  Is this correct?  If Arizona somehow losses twice to UCLA are the Pac 12 title chances most likely toast?

McQuillin has steadily been getting hammered the farther we go in conference.  We def need her to overcome dishing up meatballs if we are to move forward.

I don't know pitching forms but if she is torquing that much then I am really concerned at the super regional time.  Especially if Mike does not rest her when we have decent leads, which thus far he generally tends to just keep her in and let her keep going.  Is it really worth it to improve her chances for higher honors and risk the team's chances of going to, and winning the world series.  Keep her out when we are ahead.  My guess is that every inning saved is one more inning she can be used in the playoffs,

I agree!  Watch her form on espn or pac12 network this weekend...her right foot land right next to or on the left chalk line...crazy crossing over stuff, and as a bodyworker, I can confirm that this is difficult to work with...more like managing the problem rather than overcoming at this popint.

if arizona wins out, they clinch. If arizona loses one, utah needs to go 6-0. If arizona loses 2, utah needs to go 5-1 or better. If arizona gets swept, utah wins with a 5-1 finish. If arizona gets swept and utah loses more than 1, oregon wins with a sweep of stanford... if arizona is swept and oregon loses at least once at stanford utah wins with a 4-2 finish
