Me think that Machado will hit better than Fox and farther.
Mauga will drive in more runs than Suitos and hit farther too.
Wilson should stay at first and K-Rod bats as a DH.
Lavine and C-Rod are good enough to be used as spare outfielders.

It looks like Arizona has 6 transfers this year (is that more than usual), any word on how they are doing or if any have a chance of playing or sticking with the roster.

You know I'll be there.  I've wanted to see these blue seats ever since Indyrun started complaining about them.  No but really, who doesn't want to make a trip to sit in the stands at one of softball's most historic programs (in a way it's gotta be like visiting the softball version of "the Big House," or maybe more aptly, because of it's supposed state of disrepair, the Coliseum).  Plus I get my Bama and GT all in one weekend (despite the fact it probably means I'll have to choose between the two when they face off, or just be Switzerland).

It's the week before MNC so that means I'll be shelling out some money two weeks in a row ... maybe Judi Garmin will be missed this year after all (more than that it may be a "do I have enough vacation time" issue).

Okay well first things first.

EEGEES. It’s a local favorite and you can’t come to town without trying. Perfect for lunch. Its sandwiches and fries are the best in Tucson, the fries are delicious. In February, the eegee of the month is always Grape, which is a fave of mine (an “eegee” is like a slushy drink).

Sonoran Hot Dogs. Another must. A Tucson fave is El Guero Canelo.

Other Mexican food down near the UofA area is Mi Nidito (It’s claim to fame is that Bill Clinton would always eat there when he came to town, they have named his usual meal “Mr. President”. Always a long wait though.

For maybe not quite so crowded Mexican food, I like Midway Molinas (have yet to find as good of a cheese crisp as they have) and Guadalajara Grill is delicious too.

For breakfast I highly HIGHLY recommend Blue Willow Restaurant (My fave). There’s also the Good Egg.

For some delicious pizza, Dry River Pizza Company, Roccos Little Chicago and Brooklyn Pizza are great places.

Burgers: Monkey Burger!!!!!!!!!!!!! There’s also Zinburger which is pretty good.

BBQ: Brushfire BBQ. Yummm.

If you’re maybe looking for a nice dinner out, Pastiche, Lodge on the Desert or Old Pueblo Grill are pretty good options.

Downtown, near the U there’s the HUB and also Downtown Kitchen and Cocktails which are both cool places to eat at and checkout. The HUB gets very busy and it’s super tiny though.

How'd do you think the UA games went this past weekend?
Aside from the lopsided scoring, what do you think about the way the team performed (pitching, etc)? Also, I see MC moved some of the outfielders around, is this any indication of what we may see during season play?

That would be a good start, or a more realistic requirement should be; getting rid of the ones that have proven themselves to be weak hitters. Now that they have player overlap defensively, it should only come down to hitting!

Let's face it, aside from KF (who seems to be doing the best, so far), the rest of the pitching staff is weak, and will certainly give up many hits, and the only way to counteract hits, is for the 'Cats to hit more than their opponents! There will be NO room in the line-up for mediocre hitters.

The Cats had 3 weak sisters in the circle last year.
U say KF did the best so far.
Does what MF did in the 3 games she won make her chopped liver compared to KF?
There is an Arizona fan who knows plenty of softball who was not impressed with KF
pitching in the Fall games.
But he did say that he hopes she has a heck of a 2014.

IMO, MF looks like she needs a season to get stronger. Don't get me wrong, I don't think KF, is at her best right now, nor did I say she was pitching "Lights Out" these past weekends, but she certainly has the tools, talent and maturity to get better - quicker than the others.
The only question is durability?

If the 'Cats are going to get far this season, it will be, without question, on the coattails of KF.

Since this UA thread seems to be slipping down the page, I though we could discuss some other items of interest.

1. Hillenbrand was a nice facility in it's day, but when schools like Arizona State, seem to be investing serious dollars into their softball facility (recently adding covered bleachers, made from solar panels), you have to wonder, "what's going on at U of A?" it's one thing to have to live with the fact that; Arizona State has had a better softball team lately, but now having a better venue to play at? I think the AD, should step up and fund some improvements to Hillenbrand... and soon.

2. Anyone know what's going on with the Bats UA softball will be swinging this season? Last season, it seemed to be all Mizuno bats, but this season - the kids seem to be swinging all sorts of different makes and models? Is this some sort of demo of different makes and models, in precreation for spring?

ASU and Utah only softball facilities in Pac that are within shouting distance of SEC programs

EDIT: Forgot about Washington. That passes muster as well

Swing,

Good to see you NOT throwing $hit up on the wall to see if it sticks for a change !!

As for your first question.....Renovations at Hillenbrand are in the design stages and have been for a while. I would guess you will see the project begin before the end of 2014.

Secondly the bats.....not demos just independent !!  Coach has decided to go independent of any bat manufactures and allow the team to hit sticks of their choice. I personally couldn't be happier !!

Yes, UA baseball is now playing at a former minor league facility, for the next 10+ years! And since it's not on campus, fans can watch a UA baseball game and drink a beer, or two!

Interestingly enough, this left the UA baseball complex completely vacant (again, a much nicer venue than Hillenbrand), which could have been easily converted to a softball stadium, which although it would have been much nicer than what UA softball currently has, it still wouldn't have been as nice as some of the SEC softball facilities, but now I see that UA football, has overtaken the former UA baseball field - so softball, once again, is left to "Talk" about upcoming renovations to softball stadium, while other sports are "Getting it Done"!.

Thanks for noticing, that I have changed my way's! Therapy has been working, or could be the lithium!
Either way, what's the use in beating a dead horse? We all know the woes for UA softball resides in the poor recruitment of quality pitchers, where other programs have seemed to find them first.

I look forward to seeing those "Talked About" renovations to Hillenbrand.

Thanks for the info on the Bats, that makes sense because their seemed to be a hodgepodge of different types.

How about spending time, learning how to throw a ball, with greater velocity than the throwing velocity of an 8U player?
Ya, I know she was injured - Blah, Blah.... But wasn't that several years ago, and she still can't throw the ball hard enough to play in the outfield, where she belongs (we all know, she ain't an infielder - as evident by her many errors and back peddling on every ball hit her way)...

Now, this?
Homecoming Queen!
Makes perfect sense...we now see where her motivation is focused!

??  what does running for Homecoming Queen have to do with her throwing mechanics?  And what is the point of focusing on a player's areas in need of improvement?

When you're at work are you focused on your job? When you go home and are with your family are you focused on your job? Because if you spend time with your wife/kids then I'm forced to observe: "I now see where your motivation is focused!" (and it CLEARLY ain't your job - right?)

Yeah, fair assessment of a college student because she plays a sport. Nice perspective.

Of course I will complain about it, if they run for Homecoming queen! It's just what I do!!! I have nothing better to do, than to troll these boards and complain about everything!
HW and CG have both received many accolades for their accomplishments on the field already, and both seem to continue to contribute offensively and defensively and pretty much own their respective positions on the field. So, with that said, if either of these two, decided to run for Homecoming Queen, I guess if their contributions to the softball team didn't suffer and they continued to elevate their game, as they have every season - I suppose I should be OK with them wanting to be H'Queen, but to be honest, I wouldn't be, because I feel College Athletes are far above this type of stuff, and H'Queen should be left for the sorority girls to conquer (that's all they have to look forward to).

I think I said HW might go to OU and CG to 'Bama, but either way - it didn't come to fruition! Good thing I am retired now and don't have to make a living predicting the future!

To answer your question:

What the difference between you, a lawyer and a bucket of $hit?"

Here is my guess at the difference: "

Lawyer - makes a living, sucking the blood from others. A career like this, leaves one stained with the stench of feces.

Bucket of $hit (BOS) - BOS doesn't have a career at all, it can't, it's a bucket full of excrement - so although vastly different in physical appearance and their ability to generate income, I surmise that they may smell the same.

Me -  I on the other hand, smell of this same type of stench, because I choose to wallow in the sewers with the likes of WCCraver, who "Thinks" he is above it all, but meanwhile, the hours, days, months and years he has on this board, truly show what a loser he really is! Very Sad : (

DID I GET IT RIGHT?
