That's the goal.

I know it's the goal, but does it stand a realistic chance of happening?

Hell, I don't think a 7-2 split is out of the question.  Unless we get a Democratic congress in November that could (possibly) force DT to nominate more moderate judges.

Probably a pipe dream...

Hopefully that is a pipe dream.   Dems acting insane harassing Sanders and her party seem to be making sure DJT will get his way.

Trump has shown he likes to nominate crackpots for judgeships, in keeping with conservative tradition. He nominated half a dozen people for federal judgeships who were deemed "unqualified" by the American Bar Association--including at least two, maybe more, who had never tried a case federal court! Just another example of what stupid loons conservatives are--we don't care about qualifications, just get somebody in the job who thinks like we do! In fact, conservatives hate qualifications, hate experts, hate intellectuals and academics--always have. This is why the GOP is home to ideological blockheads. Who's the biggest dunce on the Supreme Court--indeed, the biggest dunce in the HISTORY of the Supreme Court? Answer: the ultra-conservative Clarence Thomas--a man who I don't think has ever written an opinion in his many years on the court. Maybe one--and that one recently. Until recently, he'd NEVER asked a question during arguments before the SC judges! Not one in something like 20 years! Complete moron--a cipher. Gorsuch is about the same--an ideologue who's long been in the pocket of the Koch Brothers.

Abortion and queer marriage will be against the law soon - as it should be..............

When Trump gets re-elected he'll probably get to appoint even another judge - just as an insurance run.............Won't really be needed, but, insurance runs calm the nerves...........

Just think cruise-control............[smile]

Wasn't Gorsuch rated "Well qualified" by the ABA?

Mitch McConnell may be a sorry POS RINO, but he understands that getting Federal judges appointed is very important. If anyone can ram the SCOTUS appointment through the Senate, he is the man. He is a master at Senate procedure, and if he wants a vote on an appointment before the midterms, rest assured he wll do it, and will pull out the nuclear option if he has to.

Kamala Harris is quickly taking over from DWS as the most despicable person in the Democrat Party.  She is a bomb-throwing, racist, rude leftist who cares only about her career.

Wait a minute - she could be Hillary's sister by another mister!

Running to the left to get that nomination.

I used to be a fan of Cory Booker - but he also went WAY left.

It's amazing how far left the Democrats have gone.  Disturbingly, Republicans have also lurched left.

I think Republicans are finally making a bit of movement back to the right.  SCOTUS decisions favorable to the Pro Life side, the religious freedom side. With Trump's list of proposed SCOTUS appointees, the court could take a significant lurch to the the good side.

Trump is running a mostly fiscally conservative agenda, excepting the slip up on the omnibus spending bill.

Still tons to do, reign in spending and cut debt, ACA spending is out of control, more solid solution at the border in form of wall, continue to pursue border security using existing laws, and negotiating new laws.

Consider where republicans were under Boehner with mostly RINOs in charge, back when the Tea Party was considered a 'revolutionary' group.  There is still more RINO leadership than I would like to see but things have moved to a much better stance.  The Freedom caucus is now a mainstream force.

If Iowa's law passes, I would think it would most definitely make it to SCOTUS.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/29/politics/abortion-roe-v-wade-supreme-court/index.html

Iowa's "heartbeat" law prohibits doctors from performing an abortion if a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can happen as early as six weeks, with exceptions in the case of certain instances of rape, incest or medical emergency.

Nearly 70 percent of Americans favoring maintaining abortion rights in America and support Roe V. Wade--but alas we must be subjected endlessly to the christian crazies--and the old white politicians from rural America who represent them--prattling on about this issue. We don't hear too much about what happens to kids born to a parent or parents who did not want them. They end up in foster homes--their are thousands of kids in foster homes--and they end up on the street and they end up in prison. But we don't hear much from the crazies about what happens when you try to keep women from exercising their reproductive rights. The Christian Taliban. These are the same loathsome hypocrites who don't think government money should be spent helping the disadvantaged kids that want to insist should be brought into the world. Christian crazies repulse me.

Have you heard the latest on Justice Kennedy? Turns out he's been pretty cozy with Trump for a while. He's got a son who's worked for Deutsche Bank, who has been involved in DB loaning huge sums to Trump's business, the only western bank to do so, as all others stopped doing business with Trump years ago, because he was both shady and a very bad investment. Turns out Trump's been encouraging Kennedy to retire for a while--and doing various favor for Kennedy--like putting goofball Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, who clerked for Kennedy, and giving prime judgeships to other former Kennedy clerks. In return, apparently, Kennedy has stopped being a rather unpredictable swing vote. In fact, in this last term he was as predictably conservative as Alito and Clarence (Dumb as a Sack of Rocks) Thomas. Google Justin Kennedy; see the Vanity Fair story. I won't post the link because I don't want to force you guys to read; like Trump, reading is hard for some people.

Agree.  Great incremental approach.

We need to get out in more force on the education front.  Offset the "This is about women's choice ..." messaging.  The left is using high school's middle schools to hammer this Choice messaging home.

Do like they did with gay marriage.  State by state.  IA->MO->IN ... Until enough states are in the bag, then roll it out nationally to pick up the Californias, and New Yorks.

Longer term, I would love to see someone come up with messaging around "Abortion is a Horrible choice for birth control."  That messaging really sticks and completely uses their choice messaging against them.  Lean into better alternatives.

If done correctly we could easily walk this down to 3 or 4 weeks, nationally.  Going to take quite a bit of educational work to go much lower than that.

Democrat Platform:

Favors the right to kill the unborn; the "rights" of illegal aliens; the right for states and cities to defy federal law; the rights of criminals to not have to worry about law-abiding, gun-carrying citizens; abolish ICE; demand reproductive choice but deny school choice; mandate the use of pronouns; increase taxes on everyone.

I'm sure there are more.
