Real - Thank you.  The view from here is more open and objective than those I see milling about out there in the mosh pit screaming their biases (one can see a larger spectrum from here and can pick and choose which ones are relevant to a mindset), and beside all that I don't need personal attacks or vulgarisms or labels to make myself feel better at having demeaned "the enemy".  You are absolutely correct about my views being from the periphery.  I like being here and it doesn't demand the intense study and use of time that some really involved folk must spend to in any way validate their political perspectives (I applaud them, admire them,  and learn from them).  In the interim, I read the posts, consider them, try to understand, and see if I can't learn something the easy way while offering generalities from the world of ideas.

Frankly (no pun intended) I don't have the fire in my political belly that I had when the world was younger.  I can even understand from a financial point of view how eliminating all people over 75 would aid the nation's financial woes, but being one of those over 80, I have a personal stake in staying on the planet longer - even if it's only curiosity.  I saw an episode of Star Wars once in which nations had agreed to eliminate war because it was too costly.  Instead, each nation agreed to eliminate a segment of their population yearly through use of an elimination machine - sort of a lottery thing. Now there's an idea that is repulsive to humanitarian people but makes sense to the bean counters.  Ever read the short story "The Lottery"?  Similar theme except it points out that when a stone thrower became a person selected by lottery  to be stoned to death, the lottery suddenly became "unfair" to that person.  And so it goes !!

Real - You aren't there yet obviously, but there will probably come a time when you will thoroughly understand my last post.  In SOFTBALL I used to think nothing of driving to Alabama or Tennessee, or Georgia, or Virginia for tournaments, or flying to Notre Dame or New Jersey to see a few softball games and renew old acquaintances.  I even watched a softball game with the intelligent, clever, and talented Bill Smith out in New Mexico.  Those days are gone because I want them to play in my back yard now.  Thank goodness that St. Leo's and USF are half an hour away, and I can go there to get my fastpitch fix.  It truly is a different mindset, Real.  The old adage spoken by my Gramps comes to mind - "Gossoon, if ya got yer health ya got everrythin".

As for my repeating simple "truths" over and over, that's what old folks do.  I might add that peasant wisdom like "If ya don't stir up the manure it don't stink" become not only adages to smile about and live by, but reductions of great truths to simple terms. Now, about "The Washington Way" !!!!!  It's the System, man, and it's FUBAR.  [thumb]

That doesnt change the fact that it is still sh*t. Ignoring the issue doesnt make it go away

spazsdad - That's true.  Should we be in Iraq bombing ISIS or should we bring everyone home?  Should Americans have access to preventive health care or shouldn't they?  Would intercepting 95% of those who cross the border be enough to call the border secure or not?  Should we try and phase out the SS and Medicare programs over time or not?  Should our President be someone born in this Country or not?  Is a grand bargain investing in infrastructure and lowering Corporate tax rates a good idea or not?  Should we round up illegal immigrants in high schools and colleges and deport them?

So much that shouldn't be ignored yet so many who want to keep their thoughts to themselves.  No, folks don't have to share their inner secrets or answer questions and clearly there are thousands more inside here that simply won't.  I'm just curious why those who do find these political questions, issues as you call them, to be so important, don't voice their opinions about them loud and clear?  If you don't sit at the round table of America, you're ignoring the issue, imo.

I think readers should watch here, (a Sen. McConnell radio interview), and determine on their own if these are simply more examples of gotcha questions.  I think they're fair questions to ask.

speaking of lying democrats, Leon Panetta put to bed on O'reilly last night the fact that curious george definitely was told, the night Americans were murdered in Libya, that it was an act of terrorism.  How much longer will the American electorate put up with liars in charge.  obama lied and people died.

Excuse me, Real, is there any other type of politician, Republican or Democrat?  It's not do they, but rather how much do they.  Follow the money !!!

So joisey, are you saying that obama always was a liar or you are saying he was newly converted to be such a good liar?

More left leaning liars, they are everywhere.

http://spectator.org/articles/60634/conflation-viruses

EX:

Is anyone surprised that after Liberian national Thomas Eric Duncan succumbed as the first victim of the Ebola virus to die on American soil his demise would become a cause célèbre for the race-hustling Left?

So difficult to argue with stupidity

EX:

Among the medical records released to AP is a set of notes from his second arrival at the hospital by Duncan’s attending physician, Dr. Otto Javier Marquez-Kerguelen, indicating the doctor didn’t have all the information he needed to make an immediate diagnosis: “Pt states he has not been to any rural areas or funerals recently,” wrote Marquez-Kerguelen. “Pt denies any sick contacts. Pt denies chills. The pt does not do (sic) any other associated signs of sx (symptoms) at this time.” Duncan had failed to tell Texas Health Presbyterian the whole story, either by mistake or otherwise, just as he had failed to inform airport screeners before coming into the United States.
