Gabbard also brings a first-hand perspective to the issue of sexual assault in the military, saying she “heard and saw incidents” of sexual assault within her military camp when she was in Iraq.

“We got issued rape whistles so that as we walk out of our tent or walk out of our hooch, we've got our body armor, we've got our helmet, our weapon, and we've got our rape whistle,” Gabbard recalls. “It was an eye-opening experience to have to consider that fact when we're serving overseas in Iraq and…this is a risk or a danger that exists.”

Men and women serving in our military forces have traditionally been separated....This has worked very well....And, this has kept women out of combat situations....

Nowadays, our military is being polluted with the bad decision by our politicians to mix men and women....

I wish the author would identify and contribute to the thread.  This a SERIOUS issue that bluedog has been hinting at over a few months.  What is going on in the military ranks is heartbraking.  and we say we love our women.  do some of your web searching and find out what has happened to our women in the military, harm done to them by their male counterparts. sickening

No problem with letting women try to be Navy SEALs as long as the standards aren't lowered.  I doubt one woman on the planet has the upper body strength to complete the program.

That's the whole point of this thread, they are lowering the standards and putting men's lives at risk.  I read, military.com, 34% of military is white male who comprise 70+% of it's casualties.  It's decisions like these, women and trannies in the military that get men killed

Combat is no place for men or women............

But, if it must be, then there's a place only for men...........

Statistics from CNN on what jobs females perform in the military. The percentage of casualties is not a reflection of capability, but the number of men and women as a statistical average. More men die because there are more men in combat. Secretaries and nurses will not be at risk as a rule. The military is rapidly becoming a thinking man's game, with boots on the ground becoming less important. There will always be a need for the courageous and selfless soldiers that rush into the unknown horrors ahead of them in a war zone. They are true heros, but the necessity of such missions with American soldiers is diminishing as local troops help fulfill these missions.

Front-line duties:
-- Enlisted women made up 2.7% of the military's front-line units. Women were barred from the infantry, but were allowed to serve on gun crews, air crews and in seamanship specialties. Among officers, women represented 5.4% of those involved in "tactical operations."
-- Despite the official ban on combat, women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan often found themselves engaged in firefights. Women made up 67 of the nearly 3,500 Americans lost in hostile fire in Iraq and 33 of the 1,700-plus killed in combat in Afghanistan; more than 600 others in Iraq and 300 in Afghanistan were wounded.
Assignments:
-- Among the enlisted ranks, women were most represented in the medical (30.5%) and administrative (30.1%) specialties. They made up about 17% of supply units, 14% of communications staff and 10% of electronics technicians.
-- Health care was the top field for female officers, at 39%. They made up nearly 28% of administrative officers, 19% of intelligence officers and 18% of supply officers.
-- In the Navy, 46% of all female officers were in the medical field.

Old man Bamaturd why are you posting on the military thread? You add nothing to national defense talk. You evaded the draft
