TeamGB will participate in Chiba this week
leading up to the Olympic Qualifiers in 2019.
In 2016 the Brits were ranked #13 in the WC.

I’ve never seen a team play in the summer, I checked their twitter and saw Oscorio was also there, and she already graduated. Is this common? And one know any details about how this cake about? I wish other schools would do this.

Oscorio is a new one.

Pretty sure it was probably helped along by Gettin's dad as he coaches NZs team and I know they travel to Japan often to play.

If I'm reading correctly the team went 1-2-1 on the trip with Preston getting the win, Goodman taking both losses and not sure on the tie game. Am I right?

I dont know specific details here but teams dont play in the summer because it's a giant, expensive hassle. The ducks did a bunch of fundraising, as I understand it, to be able to go to NZ last year. They also had to give up some practices and things and work that all out with the NCAA as to avoid violating the limited contact rules. I dont remember the exact details, and I'm certainly not saying these experiences aren't worth it, but there are reasons most schools dont do it, not to mention that many of the players scatter once the season is done (WA has players playing for 3 different national teams for instance).

So they went to Japan and won’t get to play against Japan?

I don't know the specifics, but I'll be thankful.  If Team USA can't beat Japan regularly I sure don't want Alabama facing off against them.

Alabama went to the Netherlands and played in 2014.  NCAA rules allow it once every 4 years, but the rub is that it has to be an international trip.  So, it really is not in the budget for most schools/sports.  Basketball is the sport where it is most often done.  In Alabama's case, the booster club has raised the money for the softball trips.  Otherwise, it would not happen.
