Last year was the only time we missed making it since 2013, and even last year we went to #1 Florida for a Super Regional and took them to 3 games and lost 2-1 in game 3. When THAT is what your "bad" years are like, or this year when we are going to host again as a 13 or 14 seed, then you know you have a strong program.

Sorry for the rant above because I agree with every bit of the rest of your post regarding our injuries and Murph's coaching and recruiting. But we can't be having our good, supportive fans spreading fake negative info. Currently, we've missed the WCWS 1 year. IF ... IF we don't make it this year, that will be 2.

We were in the WCWS in 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008. That's 3 of the last 4 and 7 of the last 10. Only Oklahoma and Florida can match that.  Murph is one of the great coaches in NCAA softball and he still is. Everyone in the sport and who knows the sport is aware of this. The facebook morons are trash. We have some truly awful humans as fans, but I've learned that everyone does. I would dearly love to know who they think we'd hire for an "upgrade" from Murph. Pretty sure Walton and Gasso aren't leaving their current gigs.

ROLL TIDE

Thank you for the clarification.  What I was trying to say (but obviously failed) was that we were in the championship game in 2014.  Not all that long ago.

There's nothing wrong with reasonable constructive criticism, and there is nothing wrong with us as fans having very high expectations. I do. But the ignorance and vitriol coming from a few is really a joke.

I personally don't see how Sides cracks the lineup unless she dramatically improves her hitting (and it might also take moving to the infield). Seems like she will be 5th in the OF barring big time improvement at the plate. Skylar Wallace will improve our speed.

My head agrees with you. My heart wants the speed.

Coach Bryant had 68/69/70 with Scott Hunter at qb; a lot of good stats but not so great when it came to what was expected as to winning. Alexis is the Scott Hunter of Alabama pitchers. A lot of INTs as compared to a lot of walks. My gosh all 3 are throwing a lot of pitches that are non-competitive. WE ARE LOSING GAMES ON WALKS. The pitchers did not look like they even have a clue as they approach the rubber. An improvement needs to be made here. Even Penny Cope did not walk the world and Miss Cope might even be better than AO in some parameters.

Oh yeah it was set in stone. Bama ...

-WILL have its first losing season in SEC play
-WILL NOT host
-IS in a downward spiral

Well we did NOT have our first losing season in SEC play, and we ARE hosting. And clearly we weren't even on the bubble. A win in the last game at UGA, a sweep of Tex A&M, a win over Auburn in the SECT and a very competitive game with Florida, and here we sit at #12,   avoiding a Super Regional matchup with any of the 4 dominant teams this year.

What in hades does Penny Cope have to do with ANYTHING 20 years later?  RME

In my almost 5 decades of loving and following Bama sports, if I have ever seen or heard a worse comparison than that of Alexis Osorio to Scott Hunter ... I certainly don't recall it. Imagine someone saying "Wimp Sanderson was the Mike Dubose of Alabama football". You calling Lexi the Scott Hunter of Bama pitchers is every bit as clueless.

You are wasting your time with ole Knucklehead.  He still thinks that girls wear skirts when they play.

LOL at Penny Cope > Alexis Osorio.  The height of confusion!

Kloyee Anderson is faster than KBS in my estimation, and more athletic.  She had high level D1 volleyball offers, and a couple of schools offered to let her play both.  She could be in the mix, especially if she gets a shot at playing on the infield.  And don't overlook Skylar Wallace in the speed department.

Kaylee Tow leads the team in on-base percentage, just ahead of Bailey Hemphill.  Without looking it up, who is third?

I would definitely think Brown. But your question implies it will be surprising, so I will go with Booker.

The answer is Caroline Hardy at .423.  She has 18 walks and 4 HBPs to go with 19 hits.  She is 3rd on the team in walks, despite having the 10th most ABs.

Wow. Talk about neck and neck.  Tow is just .003 ahead of Hemphill in OBP.  They are also close in slugging percentage with Hemphil leading Tow by a little bit.  If you look at just conference stats, the OBP is even closer with a difference of just .001!  These 2 have provided a nice power punch for Alabama this year!

I hope that they, as well as Brown, Turner, etc., continue to have productive at-bats.

The difference in our offensive production heading into post-season this year as compared to last year is significant. Clearly it is led by the fact that we have 2 big time offensive players who are performing at a big time level. But we also have Brown, Callaway, Booker, Dykes, and Demi who are all getting hits regularly.  None of this was the case last year.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY: Models have trended toward lower precipitable water values (drier) on these two days. Still, there will be sufficient moisture for a few showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours, but it now looks like they will be fairly widely scattered. Otherwise, partly sunny both days with a high in the 87 to 90 degree range.

SUNDAY/MONDAY: Moisture levels tick up again, and once again we will forecast scattered showers and thunderstorms on these two days, generally between 1 and 10 p.m. Afternoon highs will be mostly in the mid to upper 80s.

Not only is there a chance of rain all weekend, but Bama's first game on Friday doesn't start until 8:30 P.M. (or later, depending on when the first game finishes) and then they play the FIRST game on Saturday (presuming a win on Friday)!  Sheesh!  [frown][mad][rolleyes][eek]

Perhaps that's your penance for having the easiest regional?    [wink]

I'd take the UT, Oregon or Kentucky regional.

Considering the problems Team 22 has had this year--if that's the reason, it's worth it.  [wink][thumb]

Well, it was a late night at the Rhoads House last night, and I'm a little bleary-eyed this morning, but what a way to end it, with a walk-off home run by senior Peyton Grantham!  RTR!

I could not be prouder of Team 22 for the way they have overcome adversity this season--including multiple-hour weather delays for all 3 of the Regional games--to move on to a Super Regional for the NCAA-leading 14th year in a row.  I admit I had my doubts they would respond the way they did after the heart-breaking loss in the bottom of the 7th in game 2 at Georgia, but never was I more happy to be proven wrong.  So glad the seniors' final games at the Rhodes House were such a success, and especially happy for Lexie to pitch such an excellent game for her final appearance (though I hated her just missing a no-hitter). No on to Washington.  Roll Tide!  Beat the Huskies!

This! Just wanted the seniors sent out of Rhoads house in the best way possible. Not sure what helped turned around the last half of the season, but what a great turn around. Come what may, very proud of the fight.
