A few more county facts for you from reddit user AnSq:

  • The United States contains over 3100 counties and county equivalents.
  • Alaska has zero counties. They’re called boroughs, and not all of Alaska is even in one, but is instead part of the large Unorganized Borough.
  • Delaware has only three counties, the fewest of any state (with counties).
  • Texas has the most counties of any state with 254.
  • Loving County, Texas is the least populous county in the US with a population of 82.
  • Los Angeles County, California is the most populous county in the US with a population of approximately ten million.
It's striking to me how counties are laid out like grids in so many states:

I watched a History Channel program describing how many state and county lines were drawn out. A lot of it was geographic features, like rivers and even creeks and mountains. In Texas, lots of county lines are on rivers.

I still can't find an actual count anywhere. The Politico site had a map like this and individual states. I guess if somebody spent an hour or so we could get a tally.

Using landmarks makes a lot of sense, however those rows of counties are too uniform for that.

The state lines west of the Mississippi have more straight lines and the counties west of ND/TX are much larger and far less uniform. Seems like they just said "what the hell"...

Grid like indeed. Gerrymanderers can't think out of the box, usually?

I'm excited to find out if this story is true. I hope it is. It stinks like hillary's sniper-fire lie.

OK, for what it's worth, factcheck.org has it at 487 out of 3141 counties for Clinton. I am thankful the Electoral College effectively stops a handful of high density population centers from ruling the nation. Otherwise, we would be just a bunch of serfs under the control of a throne room located on the East or West Coast. Sounds a lot like the hunger games, where a ruling class lives in modern opulence, while at the same time extracting the resources it needs from the labor of the flyover serfs. The founding Fathers had it right, they knew what the tyranny of a Monarchy was all about, and they fought and died to stop it from ruling over our nation.

NBC, and ABC Sunday shows going all in on how Russians hacked and altered the outcome of our election. When a former CIA official said that Russia is always photo shopping pictures and, messing with daily news, and there was no direct evidence that Russia had any effect on our election, the NBC host just ignored it didn't skip a beat, talked over him, and continued to read the script from the teleprompter. It is a coordinated effort between MSM. They have dedicated their entire program, the whole show on this one topic. It's propaganda by the press wing of the Democrat Party. It is blatant. They are now using the newspeak phrase "hacking deniers", like they do "climate change deniers".

I don't doubt for a second they hacked - also don't believe for a second it altered the outcome. The people were done with Hillary.

Those numbers jive with the approximate 500 of 3,100 I quoted. The source I quoted also said Clinton 'won' 88 of the 100 most populous counties and "would have 'lost' by 11.5 million votes" in the other 3,000 counties, so that means she had about 14 million more in those 100 counties. FTR, I dislike saying "won" or "lost" the popular vote because that implies campaigns competed on that basis.

I was curious about the counties in the top 100 and found Wiki provides a good spreadsheet with sortable columns - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_most_populous_counties_in_the_United_States. #1 LA has 10.1M, #2 Cook (Chicago) has 5.2M, #3 Harris (Houston) has 4.4M (and they went Dem), so add Cook and Harris to your coasts. Texas also has Dallas #9, Tarrant (Ft Worth) #15, Bexar (San Antonio) #18 and 5 others. The 4 NYC boroughs on the list rank lower individually as #8 Kings (Brooklyn), #11 Queens, #20 NY (Manhattan) and #26 Bronx, however they operate under the jurisdiction of a combined city government that would rank #2 with 8.5M.

When it comes to campaigning, the media markets are a critical component both in advertising and local coverage. Radio and TV divide and measure their markets differently. Radio has 274 markets and measures by age 12+ population. TV has 210 markets (i.e. DMA) and measures by tv households. So, here are how the radio markets rank according to http://www.nielsen.com/content/dam/corporate/us/en/docs/nielsen-audio/populations-rankings-fall-2015.pdf:

1 New York 16.3M
2 Los Angeles 11.4M
3 Chicago 8.0M
4 San Francisco 6.6M
5 Dallas-Ft Worth 5.8M
6 Houston-Galveston 5.5M
7 Washington DC 4.9M
8 Atlanta 4.6M
9 Philadelphia 4.6M
10 Boston 4.2M

A 2013 Arbitron ranking had subtotals showing half of the age 12+ population was covered by 25 of the 274 markets. The next 25 had less than a third of the top 25.

As of 11 am PDT all is well with the electoral college voting. Well, except for this:

"In Minnesota, one elector was disqualified after declaring he would vote for someone other than his state's winner, Clinton. Under state law, he was replaced, and the alternate voted for Clinton."

All of the PSA's from actors calling on electors switch their votes are hilarious.

Especially the one where Martin Sheen called a female elector "Mr." multiple times.

He made a great president on the West Wing, but man that was brutal.

Looks like two of the Texas electors sh1t the bed and didn't vote for trump. Hope they get penalized.

They voted for Kasich and Ron Paul. The other 36 put Trump over 269.

TFF that Clinton has more faithless electors.
- Four (4) WA electors voted for Colin Powell (3) and Faith Spotted Eagle (1).
- MN replaced an elector that said they weren't going to vote for Clinton.
- CO replaced an elector that didn't vote for Clinton.
- ME made an elector recast their vote for Clinton after they voted for Sanders.

Can't wait until someone tracks down their state of birth, state of origin.

Dietwatereddown coke used to do good work then she became disenchanted with her and dewy's party, then disenfranchised. She gave up defending the clowns here so we need a new researcher. Pdad?
