Just a brutally talent-barren landscape, from 2-12.

I continue to believe that Louisville will make the field of 64.

Do you still?

FSU 6, ND 0.  ND threatened to score in the top of the first, but I don't think they ever threatened to score again.

An utter meltdown in Chapel Hill by the Tar Heels....

Seriously, the ACC should be a 1-bid conference

Which makes it hurt even more that my GT is so in the dumps.  What a great time it would be to have an above-average coach.

Where is the thread dedicated to that cut in the UNC/NCST game?  DANGGGGGGG that is horrible.  If I were Shawn, I'd pull a Marge and pull her right off that field.

Amanda Chidester plays for Team USA and dreams of playing on the Olympic team, so she decided to continue playing in Japan vs. coaching.

I have and always will want Bargfeldt back. With the recruiting pool in GA, I think he'd build on what he's done at Tulsa.

Why GA kids? Wouldn't you want to recruit the best kids available?

Well obviously. But when you have great kids leaving the state that's a problem. I can name an entire group here: betsa, Lawrence, Rainey, case, Burroughs, Barnhill, the girls who is pinch running for Florida and Auburn. I didn't say only Ga players I just said there was a great talent pool there and we are getting next to none of them. Get some of those on HOPE and then supplement with great players from other states

I agree! You don't want your best players leaving the state but if you look at the Past 10 years of Champions they have girls from all over, Especially California

Yes, but without a core of 5-8 instate studs getting only a third of a scholarship, it becomes much more difficult to put a team together

I feel like this is a strange conversation. Obviously everyone would want a CA player in most cases. GT has a few signed up. But you gotta protect your home turf. And more than that my original comment was just that Bargfeldt would have a better pool in GA than he does in OK. Nothing with regards to recruiting other states.

If the GT coach recruits GA kids that qualify for the Hope Scholarship they could essentially have 24 players on full scholarship (50% athletic, 50% academic).  Given that recruiting advantage and the number of high quality recruits in the state of GA there is no reason they should not be able to put a top-25 team on the field.  Same goes for UGA.

Right now you could make an argument that 3 of the top-10 pitchers in the country are from GA - Barnhill, Burroughs and Betsa.  If you look at  the players from GA who are committed to play for P5 schools, you could assemble one heck of a team.  GT and UGA are both strong academically, so there are no excuses, other than GT is downtown.

Ok thanks. Been following the programs progress. Curious when new info comes out. Hoping they can get off to a good start & do well. ACC needs some help.

Seems to have not been a good fit for her.  Kantor supposedly told recruits/players that she was leaving to pursue a job that aligns more with her values and ethics.

This will get my blood boiling more than anything else regarding GT. It's such a lame excuse. Everyone has opinions and preferences but don't try to dimish a school because if it's location. (Not directed at your JAD, just the concept of GT being less than bc it's an urban campus instead of university in some otherwise faceless town)

Some kids surely go to a Washington over an Oregon because of a large-town set up as opposed to a tiny burg (and vice versa)
And Georgia Tech would have that distinction with Boston College in the ACC and attract a certain, quality player

I'll take into consideration you're only the "messenger" but, I'm calling bull***t on that. I have no idea of the inner workings of the athletic dept @ Duke, I have met both Young & Kantor on more than a few occasions though. Young, to me anyway, came across as polite, humble & Christian. Kantor was professional, sense of humor, smart with a fantastic personality. Both seemed very driven, Type A but reserved.

It's understandable Kantor might depart if there happened to be an offer she couldn't refuse. At this stage in the season seems little early & she's got no experience.

The Values & Ethics thing is odd because they did work together at UNC so Kantor knew Young's style. I know couple parents of recruits, be interesting to see what they have to say. I find it hard to swallow the values/ethics line but, anythings possible.

To your credit diamondmound, you predicted Kantor departure, her last day is Friday. Maybe you're closer to Durham than you lead on....
