Lynch is definitely not out - coach didn't play her the last game in last weekend series but she played yesterday and today against FSU. Yes, the UNC coach continues to confirm she's a nutcase with strange outbursts over calls she doesn't agree with - nothing new though.

Lynch didn't play in game 2 vs. JMU... that was what prompted that question

UVa did manage to take one from Louisville to get to 9 conference wins and are likely the 8 seed in the ACC tourney.  Ga. Tech and Pitt tied at 9th place with 6 conf wins each so neither team sweeps the series next week then UVa is in.

FSU just swept UNC. Hopefully Klaeveman will be back soon as she's been out for the last 6 six games with a hamstring injury. FSU is more exciting to watch with her in the lineup as she brings a spark to the offense.
And, UVA won the game today against Louisville. That win could be pivotal and they may well advance to the ACC championship round now. UVA has no more scheduled games so I guess it's a "wait and see"?

I think GT is out regardless - if they sweep Pittsburgh next weekend they would lose the tiebreaker to UVA as UVA won the head-to-head series with them. However, Pittsburgh and UVA didn't play this year so if they sweep I'm guessing the final 8th spot would go to the team with the best run differential??? Not sure how that's decided. I'm gunning for underdog UVA to advance so here's hoping GT gets at least one win next weekend.

Think these are the up to date ACC standings

1.  FSU                        53-0*   (no conference games remaining, they might be tough to catch)
2.  BC                          13-7    (3 games at ND - best case scenario 2nd, worst case 5th)
3.  North Carolina          14-9    (season complete until ACC tourney - best 2nd, worst 4th)
4.  Louisville                 11-8    (3 games at NC State - best 2nd, worst 6th)
5.  ND                         11-10   (3 games home to BC - best 3rd, worst 7th)
6.  Syracuse                 10-10   (no conference games remaining - best 5th, worst 7th)
7.  NC State                 10-11   (3 games home to Louisville - best 4th, worst 7th)
8.  VA                          9-15     (season complete until ACC tournament, if they qualify)
9.  Pitt                         6-15     (3 games at GA Tech, would need to seep and then win tiebreaker (?) with VA to qualify)

So only the top 8 make the ACC tournament? Will that continue when Duke and Clemson begin play or will they expand it to say 12?

So I understand that UVA has clinched the final playoff spot. Assuming a tie, UVA has already clinched the tiebreaker by their record against the top seeds (UVA had wins against UNC and Louisville - against BC they both went 1-2). Looks like UVA will be playing probably only one more game as they will play FSU.

Thanks!!  I just went to the UVA website and you are absolutely correct,  UVA is in the ACC tournament.

That leaves Pitt out.  Pitts current RPI is 44.  I think it would be a crime for them to miss the ACC tourney but get an at large berth to the field of 64.  Nothing against the program, but...

Maybe they will expand the tournament to 12 teams when Duke joins next season. The SEC has 12.

In order for Pitt to get in NCAAs ACC would have to get 4 teams in (by RPI only). Highly doubt that will happen.

Even with an RPI of 70, the College Sports Madness guy has them in the field of 64.  I think if they win the series this weekend at ND and then win two games in the ACC tournament, they have a very good shot.  Despite their RPI.

I still think they have zero shot... but they have what is very rare in the acc... a mix of speed and athleticism, power and pitching... but got off to a very bad start

BC blew it against ND today - up 3-0 then they give up 7 runs in 2 innings - coach finally makes pitching change in the 5th but it's too late.  BC loses 7-3.

ND blew a 5-1 lead today as BC scored 5 runs after ND made a pitching change after the starter was cruising along a win by BC tomorrow locks in 2nd place

Not sure why ND made the pitching change, Beroint was doing well.  BC took advantage of Nasland for sure.

BC pitching change was necessary - Dreswick struggling again, but Weed held ND scoreless for 4.5 innings to give the offense some time to score.

A win by BC on Sunday secures 2nd.  A loss would put them at 3 or 4 depending on the outcome of Louisville vs. NC State game.

ACC tourney

1. #1 FSU v #8 UVA
2. #4 BC v #5 Notre Dame
3. #2 Louisville v #7 NC State
4. #3 UNC v #6 Syracuse

I continue to believe that Louisville will make the field of 64.

I think Louisville must win  2 games to make the 64.

ACC Softball All-Conference Teams Announced

Why doesn't the ACC list conference-only statistics like the SEC?
