CoachB25 did get-it-right............The Republicans had a great night Tuesday.............They, now, own the Senate............And, they no longer have Paul Ryan to undermine them in the House.........

Couldn't have been a better night for Republicans............

was way closer than it should've been.  to her credit, abrams and the Dems registered something like 150k new voters, and evidently turned them out.

I have been vote-shaming folks who didn't vote.

I lived in FL when Bush beat Gore.  I bet there are a couple hundred Dems that still haven't forgiven themselves.

You can never it won't matter, and sit out.

I predicted we'd pick up 30 seats in the house, probably lose a couple in the senate. Next.

I think the exact match voter registration was part of it.
Secondly, the good ole boys down south cutting the number of voting locations, while not directly related to Kenp, he had the authority to counter it. Public opinion, thanks to the free press, forced them to reopen them. Thirdly, but not least, the man who refused to recuse himself, insinuates the dems hacked the voting system at the last minute. This is a gross miscarriage of authority by a candidate. I believe trump encouraged this last action. Has his stench all over it.

The article you posted clearly stated he did not know about it.  It is handled locally.  If he had recused himself, the polling places would have still been closed.

Do you need it read back to you?

Next.

He said he didn't know about it. How would anyone be able to state, unequivocally, that he knew nothing about it? This is the kind of here say you depend on. Kemp knew, don't care what he said. He also said dems hacked the voting sustem. He's like many on here.......a liar.

I'm just repeating what your own article said.  Maybe you should contact the author and call them a liar too.  Mix in a little racism as well.  That's how you make friends and influence people.

To top it off, most of the people curbed on Tuesday were old guard RINOs that like big government and worshiped at the alter of globalism.

It is not important if any predictions were wrong. My post wasn’t meant as a criticizm of others. The point of my post was how I got it wrong. I didn’t think the Democrats could overcome the scare tactics of this President and gain enough seats. Fortunately I was wrong. The Democrats won the House and the most important goal of the 2018 election was achieved. It was a good day for Democrats and a good sign for elections to come. The President has been checked and, from my point of view, the Country can breathe easier.

I thought they’d never overcome the false claims and scare tactics utilized by this President, and would never garner the necessary votes, let alone 30-35 of them. President Trump told the voters a vote for a Democrat would be a vote for an evil person and could very well be dangerous to their children and other loved ones. Clearly I saw that claim as a complete lie, not unlike the claim Hillary would be locked up, but after several years experiencing the spell this man has over the people, I figured their personal fears would cause them to follow Trump’s requests. Fortunately, and much to my surprise, many Americans dismissed his false claims and voted Democrat.

The number one goal of Democrats was to somehow check the actions of this President. Mission accomplished. Better yet, I think they said House Democrats were supported by an 8 or 9 percent margin of Americans which was higher than 2016 which was higher than 2014. Someone also said young people voted Democrat two to one. That second stat is more important than many may know.

While the control of Senate and Presidency remain a State by State battle, I don’t see how the House ever turns back red again. Every recent election now sees an increase in Democratic Party popular vote. I doubt we’ll ever see Democrats stay home during midterms again due to a popular Democratic Party President they feel content with. That means each election will see Democrat vote totals grow in the House. The previous times Republicans won the popular House vote total can be explained away.

In 2010, the Right was inspired for two reasons. They objected to a Kenyan winning the Presidency and they were irate over large annual deficits. The Left was caught unprepared for this rage from the Right and the vote totals showed as much. Since then, the Right has thrown in the towel on large budget deficits so that anomaly is likely gone forever. I can’t think of any new issue that’s going to enrage the Right and reverse the huge win we saw yesterday when it comes to the House popular vote. Each subsequent election should now see an increase in Dem House members.

In 2014 a Democratic Party, content with a popular President, failed to show up in the midterm and paid the price. Lesson learned and I think that will never happen again as well. This election proved Democrats are voters to be counted on.

Couple these changes with the young voters breaking 2-1 for Democrats and I see House popular vote margins increasing each and every election going forward. Eight or nine percent winning margins should now grow to higher double digit victories as the young continue to contribute, the old fade away, and the demographics change.

After watching great numbers of Americans accept everything President Trump says as truth these last several years, I probably gave him too much credit towards influencing the results yesterday. I thought for sure the voters would fear harm to their families, because of supposed invaders from the South, and would think twice before casting a vote for the “party of crime”. I see now I sold the American people short.

It was a great day for Democrats and the much needed check of the Presidency is now complete. Earlier today, President Trump said the increase in the Republicans joining the Senate should help get more legislation through the Senate. Somebody needs to let him know that does absolutely zero towards getting legislation through the House.

No doubt a check on the President does not mean Democratic Party legislation is on the way. No such luck. Instead it likely means continued gridlock until the population changes, that are certainly coming, result in a political color change as it relates to some of these red States. It got really close in Georgia, Florida, and Texas, and I think it’s safe to say a few more years should be enough to turn these and more States to blue or close to it.

Yes you did.  You were simply using it as a lame debate tactic to take untruthful and inaccurate shots at the right.

Yes but one lie, nullifies the rest of your points, if you have one. It's like building a house, you must build it on a strong foundation, in your case with strong premises. Ine thing that you dont di is provide strong premises, you're a partisan hack, weak premises.

There was no big overcoming.  Just the natural ebb and flow of American politics.

Reports say Democrats flipped over 300 State seats and added 7 Governors.  Apparently some States passed minimum wage laws as well.  These results, coupled with the Democratic Party taking control of the House, shows it was a huge day and forecast a very good trend for Democrats going forward.  If President Trump is not partly responsible for these losses, then I don't know what the explanation might be.  When Obama lost seats, many claimed the high deficit was largely to blame.  I would think the deficit in 2017 and 2018 could be similarly responsible.  Add a budget going in the wrong direction to that of a very divisive Administration and I think we see why the electorate is disillusioned.

Nobody has used that hashtag since October 25 - might want to hit up twitter for a new one.

Two states passed life-affirming ballot measures - great day to be an unborn child and a member of the GOP.

Booming economy and lose over  30 seats. Only the fringe righties could look at results like that and declare victory. I seem to remember that happening around here pretty frequently. Tell me about how it was awesome because you didn't lose 60 seats. In Conservasia, the fringie rightie fantasy world, you win elections by losing seats. le grande orange has declared it so, hail, hail.

As I said earlier, the outrage against Obama in the midterm was due mostly to the fact Rightists believed he was a Kenyan elected illegitimately along with an extreme Rightist outrage over the huge budget deficit.  Equally important was the fact Democrats too often stay home during midterms.

Why do you think the House popular vote went against President Trump this time around?  It doesn't appear it had anything to do with Republicans staying home so there must have been another reason.

I'd like to see the new House pass the gang of eight immigration bill and send it to the Senate.  Force them to table the bill and not vote on immigration reform that includes penalties on businesses who hire illegal immigrants.  Secondly, the House should introduce legislation that will lower tax rates for middle class Americans and raise the rates on the wealthy to whatever level is necessary in order to make the bill revenue neutral.  Important that it has no effect on the deficit.  Force the GOP to ignore a tax cut aimed at the middle class.
