Why is she a friend of Hutch or because of her successful track record at GT?

Wonder why James Madison and UAB have posted the HC jobs. Surely they are retaining both coaches that were named quickly last Fall.

Just a guess, but were both positions technically interim for this season?  For UAB, I couldn't find an article about Ellis being named HC, but in an article about Townsend's promotion, is this line:

Former player and current assistant coach Amanda Ellis will serve as the interim head coach for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

I'm guessing the same is true for JMU's coach.

Here it is:

"JMU stands today as the preeminent program on the East Coast and a national contender and we are committed to maintaining that status as we transition," Bourne said. "Loren's appointment as interim coach is an important piece to that commitment to success. She has a great rapport with our student-athletes, has been a key piece to our success over the last five years and is committed to our departmental vision. Without question, Mickey Dean elevated JMU softball to become a consistent top-25 program on the national level and we wish him well."

Even if they are going to keep both coaches, I'm sure they have to officially post them and go through the process to finalize the hiring of the full-time coach.

Unable to locate the JMU posting and according to the articles I have read there is no mention of interim. Also reached out to a couple of alums who know current players and no mention of Laporte leaving.......yet!

This sounds accurate. Probably have to publicly post to satisfy certain Univ/NCAA requirments.

The posting was on JMU's website a few weeks ago, and has since been removed.

Hutch's rolodex is deep with ex-UM players & Athletic Dept personnel. This will be too easy for her!

Curious to know what other texas schools might have openings.  In all fairness to N. Texas I do not know much about program but do they have the backing by University as AD mentions?  Will they attract a big time coach as he eludes to?

Huge facility improvements would need to occur. Some of the worse in CUSA. Great town.

Won’t surprise me if it’s Texas, Texas Tech or UTSA. If not all 3

Heard through rumor mill of players that Campbell coach Todd Bradley is out.  Have not seen anything to confirm or deny in print.

He is. Hasn't been a release about it, if you access the staff directory from the main page it has TBD for the head coach position and the pitching coach is staying for now. (He is still listed as a coach from the softball page, but I'm guessing they just haven't gotten to that yet)
