Maria DiBernardi has announced her retirement after the 2018 season before the 2017-18 season began, so Villanova will be open at the end of the season as well.

That could be a good job for the right hire.

Watching him let his freshman pitcher get shellacked by FSU with not so much as a time out or maybe I’ll bring my DP in to throw a few pitches, i can understand this move.

They had the right hire and fired her.  She's now helping Bev Smith take USC to best season in this century.

don’t be so sure on that ...she made some questionable decisions on recruiting

I thought navas was doing a stellar job. Unfortunately, two homesick #1 pitchers in back to back years killed 3-4 seasons and she took the rap for it. NCState lost out.

Whoever they get at ncsu is going to have a tough go, with Duke being better out of the gate and Clemson now about to start up

In 2006-07, they finished with an average RPI of 17, with the 2007 season pitched by two seniors.
Then, she had five seasons with a record of 131-133.

Rychcik definitely, like Myers in Auburn with Deese's kids, was propelled by Navas' recruits to that super regional season, but 131-133 over five years in the ACC SHOULD get you canned, it seems, from 30,000 feet over here.

They simply didn't make the right choice.

What am I missing?

No clue who the Wolfpack will hire, but they had better get this one right....As mentioned before, Duke is coming and it won't take Rittman long to build a program in Clemson. NC State has about 2 seasons to get much better, or risk being near the bottom of the ACC for years. There is not enough talent in the Carolinas to fill NC, NC State, Duke, SC, and Clemson, so the new coach will have to be someone that can successfully recruit on the national level.

. She had two stud pitchers from FL spaced two years apart. The first came in and had a great freshman season and then decided that she was homesick and went home to FAU. Navas had no number one for a season and then brought in Kayla Cox from Tampa. She had a stellar freshman season (might’ve been conference PiOY?), though still only one legit stud pitcher on the staff. Then one month before fall started her sophomore year, Cox’s pitching coach here in Tampa heard her say that she was a bit homesick and promptly talked her into staying home to throw for the pitching coach’s D2 School here in Tampa. Navas had not recruited over her incoming pitchers and did not find a replacement for the kid who went to FAU fast enough as she still thought she had Cox up until right before fall season. The following year was a disaster and she was gone.

I remember Kayla Cox. Good intel. Though, interestingly, in Cox's only year, team ERA was 3.14. The next year, it was 2.95

Rutgers open.

http://www.nj.com/rutgers/index.ssf/2018/05/rutgers_dismisses_softball_coach_jay_nelson.html

Oh I bet they only hire a woman.
Hutch would never let them hire a man.
What's wrong with men?
What's wrong with women?
Can't we just have the best candidate.
Big Ten is a "Good 'ol Girls Club".
My (insert relationship - husband, friend, third cousin twice removed) would be great for this job but they're a man and they would never be hired.

Ok, did I hit all the main points? We can move on now.

Hutch has already submitted her list of approved candidates. It's a slam dunk.

Let’s just keep this gem and see how the hire plays out.
Question, do you think Glasco is a good coach?

Lotief worked his butt off to get every player on the team a place to play......just not at Lafayette. He was calling teams and asking how much they had in scholly money and talking up the players. I've heard not all the players that left were sure they did the right thing. I think Glasco has done a tremendous job with the hand that was dealt him. This team could have easily folded like a cheap tent, but really had a respectable season. His recruiting skills are well known, so we'll see how the future unfolds. So far......pretty damn good.

I definitely think he is. I'm not saying I'm against male coaches in the Big Ten. I'm against this thread turning into a battle of men vs women. I like being able to go this link to see new updates, not read through a discussion about these other things.

Just curious because IL wouldn’t even give him an interview when Sullivan was out.
But your point is taken about the topic

Iowa and Texas are two schools who have to be looking closely at their coaches performance. Got a feeling Texas has been thinking about Cat for quite some time as she continues to build her resume as an assistant.

Will the last man standing in the Big 10 please take down the flag. Lol.

My guess he won’t be the last Big 10 coach let go. Should be a fair amount of movement on coaching positions this year.

My kid has good friend going in Sept and she confirmed an email was sent to all the incoming recruits saying he was not returning.
