I’m not sure number of wins is the best determining factor. It might be a good idea to see who those teams beat and who they lost to during the season. Towson St has 8 more wins than Alabama. I’m not sure they are the better team.

I never said the BIG 10 was fantastic , just relating to his post, Baylor's  and OSU 's schedule looks like they played a bunch of JUCO teams,
so crowing about the Big 12 is a little ridiculous.

Who do we like in the first round?

#7 Wisconsin vs #10 Purdue
#6 Illinois vs #11 Maryland
#8 Michigan State vs #9 Nebraska
#5 Ohio State vs #12 Iowa

Any upsets?

Then:
Wisconsin/Purdue vs #2 Minnesota
vs
Illinois/Maryland vs #3 Indiana

Michigan State/Nebraska vs #1 Michigan
vs
Ohio State/Iowa vs #4 Northwestern

I hope Michigan gets Nebraska just for RPI purposes.

The Big Ten has 6 teams in the top 50 - Minn, Ohio St, Mich, NW, Neb, Wisc
The Big 12 has 4, the ones you mentioned.

The problem is the other half of the Big Ten teams are really, all ranked worse than 100.  Mich St, Iowa, Purdue, Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers, Penn St

I like:
Wisconsin over Purdue
Illinois in run rule fashion over Maryland
Nebraska over Michigan St
Ohio St over Iowa

Then Minnesota over Wisconsin
Illinois over Indiana
Michigan over Nebraska
Ohio St over Northwestern

Minnesota over Illinois
Michigan over Ohio St

Minnesota over Michigan for the championship

And I never said the Big 12 was fantastic. Just responding to a prior post about it being superior to the Big 12. With twice the teams they should have twice as many in the top 10, 25, 50 or whatever and clearly they don’t.

Well with Nebraska's loss to MSU and having lost 9 of their last 10, I don't think they get a bid. It's unfortunate that they kind of fell apart at the end, but hopefully their spot goes to another Big Ten team like Wisconsin.

Final - Iowa 5, Ohio State 1.  3 of the 5 Iowa runs scored via wild pitch or passed ball.

Help from her teammates has been spotty.  She got two L's from Purdue last weekend.  Iowa also was swept by Maryland.

8 seniors graduating for Iowa, and a coach finishing out her contract.  Much uncertainty ahead in Iowa City.

WOW!!!! What a surprise!!! Hutch is the BIG Coach of the Year.

She chose the committee and verified the votes herself. [smile]

I am sure UM was the preseason favorite to win the BIG...and guess what... they won the BIG. What a coaching job.

Next order of business...make sure the Rutgers hire goes her way.

Gophers finally beat Wisconsin 6-0 in a game that lasted over 8 hours with all of the rain delays.  Fiser pitched 4 innings, Smith the last 3 on a combined 2 hitter.

Really curious to see what the committee does with Wisconsin.  I think they needed to win this game to get a bid.  With two very good pitchers, I think the Badgers underachieved this year a bit.

anyone watching the Illinois v. Indiana game on the Big 10 network?   Curious to get an expert opinion on whether the Illinois pitcher is legal.

By the letter of the rule....no. There is no drag and it’s a definite hop but it’s not blatant.

Walk off homer for Indiana in the bottom of the 7th.  Indiana beats Illinois 2-1.

I hope Indiana finds a way to get to finals against Michigan and knocks them off.  No way in hell Hutch deserves COY over Stanton. Maybe it was Hutch paying Indiana back for hiring someone that wasn't on her "list."

With the Northwestern v. Iowa game pushed back to tomorrow morning, will they re-schedule the championship game to Sunday?  They cant make NW or IA pay 3 games tomorrow, can they?

Stanton is a good coach. One of a select few in the Big 10. Indiana will continue to get better with her there. She was definitely Big 10 COY.

Northwestern vs. Iowa, whoever wins will play against winner of MSU vs. Mich

If NW/IA beats MSU/MICH in Semifinals, the Finals will be on sunday

If MSU/MICH beats NW/IA in Semifinals, the finals will be tomorrow

BYU and LMU now have a triple header scheduled for tomorrow with LMU (1pm, 3pm, and 5pm) because they couldn't play today. Are you kidding me? I know it rained today in the area but really they couldn't get 1 game in today? Utah and Oregon State got one in tonight just up the road and the Big Sky Conference tournament got in games today just up the road in Ogden, UT. Somehow I feel like this was a choice of BYU's.

NCAA limit is 3 games in a single day for a team.

3 game series in 1 day seems like a solid way to decided a conference championship.

Don't know a thing about her, but the Michigan State pitcher, Zalewski, can really bring some heat and she also has a nasty change-up.  Michigan could be in trouble.

Sparty getting set to party. Lead 6-0 in the top of the fifth and Beaubien looked... wait for it... Beaubad.

Schafer now in for the Wolverines.
