Has anyone got any idea of what UT Arlington and Montana are doing? Seems to be pretty quiet and it is really getting late with students reporting soon.

Someone I know who talked to both schools was told that Montana is considering Mike Larabee and has already offered him the job, and UTA has not finalized their list of people to bring in yet. You'd think that would be legit, given the source is the schools themselves, but there have been cases where this person received faulty information from previous schools, so, still rumor status.

Definitely good for UW's PAC rivals. We'll see how Alvelo, especially, adapts. I know they had a great working relationship and the numbers reflect that.

I think good for him too. You look at a team that's 3-21 in the MAC with a 278 RPI and that looks pretty bad. But, of those 18 conference losses 11 of them were in 1-2 run games (1-11).

Their 1-2 pitchers that got the bulk of the conference innings, had ERAs in the low 3s. Their defense and clutch hitting were pretty bad (111 errors total, .146 w/RISP). They also made timely base running mistakes and errors that cost them games.

The good news is that with better coaching UB should be able to win 1/2 or more of those close games. 8 or 9 conference wins is a lot better than 3. Hopefully, there will be a surprise or two on the transfer/recruiting front as well and this team will get better.

The down sides are that they lost their #2 pitcher and some of those games look like the team doesn't have a winning attitude. Roberts will have to instill that to be successful, and I am confident he will.

On a personal note, good luck Mike and Therese. You'll be missed terribly in Seattle, for more than just softball!

Wow, Montana might be the only school that is willing to tell some random person that asks them who they are going to hire who they have offered a job to before that person has accepted the offer. Otherwise, if Montana had offered Larabee the job AND he had accepted it, why would Montana just not say they have hired Mike Larabee instead of saying they had offered it to Mike Larabee.

Unless I don't know how the business works that seems like a stretch to think that this is anything more than the rest of the unsubstantiated rumors on this site.

Heard that UTA has had folks come in already and were having some come in this week as well. But yes with school starting up next week, it is cutting it close.

Montana is not even that far along in the process. Have not had 1 candidate on campus yet.

Melanie Meuchel has been named interim head coach at Montana.  It was in a story announcing their fall schedule.  So, I would imagine that it would be late fall or even next year before they name a new head coach.

If Deifel follows at Montana after Larabee (if that's even real), we'll know something very strange is going on in the universe. [smile]

They didn't tell some random person. One of the ADs told someone I know who had contacted them about the job that they had an offer out. Through other contacts at the school it came out that it was Larabee. As I said though, this person had been told faulty things by schools in this kind of situation before. I don't think they are deliberately trying to mislead, I think things change quickly. Most probably they couldn't come to agreement with Larabee and Mel was their backup plan.

It would just be Montana cycling through former Arkansas coaches, in order.

Wright State still has no HC....Interim coach is still listed on site, but she has been gone since season ended.

Bizarre, to say the least.  It's incredible how we have colleges who seemingly do not care one bit about their own programs.

Below depicts NCAA athletic departments' hierarchy. Please note the softball programs' position, buried in terra firma.

May have been talked about, but just came across FDU Knights "parting ways" with head coach Kelley. Seems kinda late in the summer for that.

It was never too Late to part ways with that coach. Should have been sooner, But just glad she is gone. Hope and Pray she never gets a coaching job again. She made the stories of Julie Wright look like a cake walk.

Sounds like no love loss there. Coaching philosophies just not align with resources?

Folks quit covering for coaches that only try to win by intimidating players.  Their tactics would not be supported in Corporate Management and should not be tolerated at Universities.  They need to learn positive coaching strategies or get out of coaching- period!!

USA Gymnastics covered for years because of attitudes like yours!!!  Players should be treated like the adults they are suppose to be.  The system of travel ball creates the entitlement mentality that some players have.  Hard work required - yes!!!  Abusive coaching - NO!!!

Lisa Dodd bringing in new/fresh faces to Santa Clara.  Maybe a little boost to help the program and recruiting:
