Probably an under qualified female who played the sport or a male who coached travel ball and knows how to yell and humiliate young women better than he does hitting.

Lafayette close to announcing, Oakland just announced and UIW is out but not yet announced. Only leaves a few more spots for for former unsuccessful head D1 head coaches or 25 year old female D1 assistants who are "rising stars" in the profession and "helped" the team they were at to new heights. Going to be exciting to see who gets Colgate, Hartford, Bucknell, and can only imagine about UNLV and Stanford.

I've heard of at least two people under consideration for the UNLV job.

Maggie Livreri - Associate Head Coach - Utah. She is a unlv alumna and was also an assistant coach there.

Mike Roberts - First asst/pitching coach-UW. Has had several internal/external recommendations for the job.

The AD in charge of selection has apparently said they haven't finalized the list of candidates yet.

I don't know if I believe that or if they are waiting for a particular person, or what. I'm not sure what is taking so long, and of course valuable recruiting time is ticking.

If you want a laugh go watch the App State softball press conference from a couple weeks ago. Should be able to find the video so I wont post it. The amount of BS I just walked through watching that would fill up over my chest waders, its that deep.  One of the most ridiculous press conferences I've ever heard. That AD doesn't know a thing about softball or who he just hired. He says he checked off all "yes's" on Hoerner. Yea everything but wins I guess. And the nerve of Hoerner to thank App State for seeing her vision for what she wanted in her next gig.  Yea because her vision of a softball program has brought in so much success in the past that she's earned the right to pick and choose her next places of employment I guess is what she means there. Pretty funny and ridiculous stuff.

The best comedy comes from true statements, which makes this post fantastic.

Let's see... young coach has first-time head coaching gig at the D1 level.  No reason to think that won't work out great.

Another rising star out of college 5 years getting the D1 nod. Hope it goes well for them. I heard from reliable source a highly highly recruited High School player has decided not to play in college and is going right into coaching and may be a front runner for all of these open D1 jobs.

I don't think so, Jessica.

I don't believe Eric has the hiring/firing of coaches under his purview. If he did, she probably would have been gone a year ago. Hopefully whoever is in charge won't be talking to KIP for recommendations this time around!

As far as coaching candidates, I don't know who is candidate#3.
I believe a couple of possibilities besides those mentioned would be 1) Courtney Martinez (Current Assoc head coach) and 2) Linda Garza (HC at Fresno State).

Martinez has to be given a shot for no other reason than continuity of recruiting. Garza is pure speculation, because something is going on at Fresno State with recruits renegging and returning players transferring. Where there's smoke, there's fire! Garza is a former UNLV player.

If she is truly a rising star, I feel bad for her. Lafayette is a dead end job with no support from the athletic department. There is a reason they haven't won close to 20 games in a season so far this decade and it isn't just the coaching.

I don't see Garza going to UNLV. Fresno is her home town but I could be wrong. I haven't heard  who the players are that are renegging. But most of the players leaving seem to be Ford's recruits following her to ASU.

Why even consider her for any other positions until the smoke clears at Fresno?

Sounding like the latter now. 7 days after she resigns, they have a new coach.

And the Minnie AD pursued a contract extension making her one of the highest paid softball coaches in the B1G, and Allister would not do it, so this has been in the works.  I am happy to see she waited until there was a separation between Rittman leaving and her taking over.
