Let me tell you don't pay attention to the score keeping by ASA at Gold Nationals.  If a coach uses a DP, most of the time, the score keepers have no idea who is pitching or hitting.  My dd, Megan was used as a DP for the entire nationals last year.  She pitched and hit in every game, according to the score keepers she did not pitch in three of the games and only hit in 3 of the 7.  Therefore, the stats are way off.  First, Danielle Yudin is not a pitcher.  Second, I have never seen Spigner pitch so my guess is she didn't pitch either.  Both pitchers in those games were used as DP's because it gives the coaches much more flexibility. So take the scoring with a grain of salt as there is a destinct possibility that it may be wrong.

Sincerely,
Steve Langenfeld

Spigner has pitched in OKC but only in pool play vs hurricanes and threw very well. Teagan and Donna should pitch for Batbusters the rest of the way. Shults is just an awesome player. Oklahoma got a good one!!

Oklahoma sure did!

Thanks for the update on Spigner.  All I know is she hits the hell out of the ball!!  I didn't realize she was Valencia's pitcher.  That makes her all the more impressive.  I knew Valencia won CIF championship just didn't know who pitched.

Can playas be on a 23U roster for Nationals & an 18U Gold roster too & legally play at Gold Nationals?

23U is considered Womens and 18U Gold is Junior Olympic.  Not only can individual players play in both, but an 18u Gold team can play in 23U Nationals and 18U Gold Nationals in the same year.  I think there is a wierd rule that the 18U team could not pick-up 23u players for the 23U Nationals though or something wierd like that.

IMO, If they would move 23u Nationals to HoF and have it like Wed-Sat before Gold, I think a lot of teams that Qualify for Gold would play in it.

But what about playing in both 18A and Gold National Championships??? Teagan for Busters pitched for both of these teams - currently still pitching at gold. How is that allowed? Is it because it was Triple Crown? And speaking of.... Triple Crown???? Is Haning going crazy or is it really that bad for 18A ASA Nationals?

And Spigner is just a great overall athlete - completely took over the Valencia program when people had lost a little faith in their chances this year. Great kid, incredible softball player.

Triple Crown has nothing to do with ASA.  A girl playing in ASA Gold Nationals that is a '91 DOB could pitch in 16U Nationals in Triple Crown, AFA, NAFA, USSSA, or any other organization's Nationals, but could not play in more then 1 ASA "JO" Nationals in the same year.

And yes, 18A has changed a lot.  Very few college coaches are there and you can tell, just look at the teams that finish at the top and what all different states they are from.  2009 18A Nationals is in Las Vegas, so you will probably have a few teams play just because it is in Vegas.

Tough luck for the Babes today. The lost in extras 5-4. Bachman just didn't look herself today. For me it was disappointing, they should have beaten this team from California.

Good game going on b/w the Angels and Batbusters.

GC Hurricanes win 3-0 over GaElite. 4 hitter for Fico. They'll face the Washington Lady Hawks next, who beat the Cruisers 4-3

The Ladyhawks surprised me beating the California Cruisers. They were better then I thought. The Gold Coast Hurricaes pitcher, I think her name is Brobacher? A lot of people where talking about her yesterday. Does anyone know about her?

Steph finally appears to be completely healthy and I think she's going to have a great sophomore year(though her freshman campaign wasn't too shabby, going 20-0) and get more innings to spell Nelson even more. I think the shutout in the SEC tournament and the 4 innings of no hit ball against the Aggies in the WCWS really boosted her confidence even more.

At least that makes it easier to follow them. I'm trying to follow all the current and future Gators, but it seems like they're spread out all over the place.

I just found out that the Sting picked up 09 OU commit Brianna Turang. I didn't even realize that. Yes, there was a lot of commits in the Angels, Batbusters game. Both those teams look real good. Shows how competitive this part of the bracket was.

Looks like there is some storms developing to the south.

The East Cobb team has to be the favorite. i've watched those kids for several years and they can play.

Of the final 8 in the winners bracket, only 2 California teams remain and they aren't the 2 that you would have expected. The rest are spread out around the country. The game is definitley growing. I would be surprised if a California or Texas team won.

East Cobb Bullets definitely has the best uncommitted 2010 pitcher I have seen this year in Lori Spingola.

Not sure what you based this statement on but....................... that Cali team was the only team that stayed in the winners bracket in the Fireworks tournament, without their signed seniors. Finished second after leading the Firecrackers 6-0, before falling 7-6 in championship game................. That Cali team went 5-0 in their qualifier tournament................that Cali team beat the Corona Angels (Tyson) in the Champions Cup, who I might add beat the OC Batbusters today............that Cali team is coached by one of the best female coaches in the country who has been NFCA fastpitch coach of the year and was the United States Junior National coach....... and on and on.............or did you just base the statement on your opinion of the Babes?

Bad weather or bad gametracker? The updates on the late games has stopped.

Looks like bad gametracker. Late game winners were Omaha Quakes eliminating AZ Desert Thunder 2-1; Firecrackers knocking out the NJ Breakers, 8-3; Texas Impact Gold eliminating Cal Lite 4-3; and Valley Breeze 10-8 winners over the Grapettes.

Very busy day tomorrow, it's gonna be a long day and hopefully there is some good softball.

I noticed that Dallas Escobedo wasn't being listed as the pitcher in the games on Gametracker.  I also wonder why she isn't in the lineup?  She's a beast at the plate & hits HRs routinely.  Why would they not let her hit?  Is Erin even there?  Is it really Dallas that has pitched ALL of the Hotshots games so far?

Also, what's up with Desert Thunder?  Kenzie only pitched 1 of their 3 elimination games.  And Gametracker shows her playing in the OF today?  Not that McIntosh & Luciani aren't good pitchers, but when it's all on the line, wouldn't you bring in your ace?  Is anything wrong with Kenzie?
